Yamaha Confirms YZF-R3 Will Be Recalled Owing To Multiple Issues
Yamaha Japan has issued a recall for approximately 15,000 motorcycles. Models include their smaller capacity machines sold in several markets. The YZF-R3, YZF-R25, MT320, and MT25 by Yamaha is plagued with multiple issues.
There seems to be an issue with the front brakes, transmission, and oil pump. Currently, the YZF-R3 sportbike has an issue with a potential oil pump failure. The motorcycle also has a faulty clutch bearing within the transmission, which could cause problems.
At this moment, Yamaha claims 1,548 YZF-R3 models could have potential faulty parts. The sportbike was manufactured between March 19 to May 19, 2016. So far, Yamaha Motors India imports the YZF-R3 as a CKD unit, which means bike sold in the country could be affected.
Yamaha Motors India has not announced an official statement for recalling the affected YZF-R3. We expect an official announcement soon on recall of a few models sold in India. Stay tuned for updates as and when Yamaha India announces an official recall.
