College Students Develop Car That Runs On Air
Engineering students in the city of Rajkot in Gujarat have developed a car that runs on air instead pf petrol and diesel or other alternative fuels.
The group of four students started on the air propelled carm a year back, making it their final year project.
Instead of a fuel tank the car uses a tank that is filled with air. The students also used parts from old cars to bring the cost of their vehicle down.
The biggest issue right now though with the air-breathing prototype is range. However,Kishan Pansurya, one of the four students who developed the car is confident his vehicle can be used in small campuses despite its minimal range.
Pansurya said, "Through our research, we have proven that if we fill air (in the tank) 12 times, the car can cover one - two kilometers, and if we fill it 15 times, it can travel up to three kilometers. Such cars can be used in small campuses and colleges. It is pollution-free, eco-friendly and runs on air."
Another one of the developers, Kalpesh Kotdia, said that the car can be improved upon.
"We have used a 110cc bike engine. Only one person can travel in the car. Talking about speed, it can travel at up to 20 kilometres per hour. If we make some more modifications, we can increase its capacity and make it capable of travelling long distances," he said.
