Meanwhile, exports of the premium hatchback to some of the popular destinations including South East Asia and other neighbouring countries stood at 8000 units. A press release by Maruti Suzuki said: "Ritz, like its sibling Swift, is one of the fastest models to achieve the 200,000-mark. During FY12 it was one of the bestsellers in the premium A2 segment."
Maruti Suzuki Chief GM (Marketing) Shashank Srivastava said: “Ritz owners also, have always appreciated its driving comfort. In current context too, when market is skewed towards diesel, we expect Ritz to gain more volumes in the future as well."
The Ritz which was launched in 2009 comes with contemporary styling and is powered by the two most successful engines, 1.2 litre K-series petrol engine (first on Ritz) and DDiS 1.3 L diesel engine. Interestingly, the Ritz has also a great fan following on social media like Facebook with the small car being the first Indian auto brand to achieve 1 million fans.
In the meantime, the Ritz has also achieved many awards and milestones including the Best Compact Car and Premium hatchback Of the year. The Ritz comes at a starting price of Rs Rs. 4.2 lakh for the petrol variant and Rs 5.2 lakh for the diesel.
