Volkswagen India continued its top performance in June. After n incredible 244 per cent hike in May Sales, The Germany based carmaker today reported a 166 per cent increase in sales. Volkswagen India sold 5,397 vehicles this June as against the 2,032 units it sold in the corresponding period last year.
Volkswagen's sales have primarily depended on the Polo Hatchback and the Vento sedan. The third model in Volkswagen India's line-up, the Passat luxury sedan contributed 197 sales. The Polo and Vento registered total sales of 5,136 units.
Volkswagen Group Sales India Member of Board and Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Neeraj Garg said: "Despite the current slowdown in the market due to recent hikes in both fuel prices and lending rates, we have fared pretty well in the current month, thanks to the strong product line up that we have in the market".
Volkswagen has been able to report huge increments in sales due to the fact that it's sales last year were not too great. The Polo hatchback slowly gained customer confidence while the recently launched Vento with its competitive price has been able to pose a credible competition to the Honda City.
