Mahindra Scorpio To Be Prime Ministerial Ride For Narendra Modi?
You might already be aware that Narendra Modi has shared a very strong relationship with the trusty Mahindra Scorpio throughout his days as Gujarat Chief Minister.
So that brings up the question. Will the Prime Minister designate continue to use the Indian made Mahindra Scorpio as his official vehicle or will he switch to German brand BMW's limousines?
Mahindra would of course, love to have the Prime Minister drive in their vehicle as there cannot be a more prestigious endorsement than that. Sensing an opportunity, the company has offered to modify the Scorpio suitably.
Speaking to TOI, Anand Mahindra, chairman of the Mahindra Group, said, "It will be a matter of pride for us and for the whole nation if our new PM continues to make the India-made Scorpio his vehicle of choice"

Pawan Goenka, president of Mahindra & Mahindra's automotive division has also said that it would need to interact with Special Protection Group (SPG) to understand the stringent security requirements required by a vehicle to be part of the Prime Minister's transport fleet.
It should be kept in mind that Mahindra already caters to the Indian military and its Defense Land Systems arm also modifies regular models to speciality security vehicles.
Modifications can be as extensive as fitting entirely different engines and suspension systems to elaborate armour plating and active, passive defensive and offensive apparatus.
Modi's existing fleet comprises of several bullet-proof Scorpio SUVs, which are already equipped with loads of security equipment. However, for them to be a Prime Ministerial ride, security measures will have to be beefed up to a much higher level.
At present, the Prime Minister's car is a BMW 760Li high-security limousine, several of which are part of the fleet. The SPG, meanwhile, make use of modified BMW X5 SUVs.
