Upcoming Car Launches In The 2nd Half Of 2016

India has already witnessed impressive car launches which included Maruti's Vitara Brezza, Tata Tiago, and the amazing Toyota Innova Crysta. Luxury cars too made their impression with the Bentley Bentayga, Jaguar XE, and the Skoda Superb.

The second half of 2016 looks exciting too, raising the tempo with car enthusiasts. Read on to find the list of the cars to be launched in the coming days.

Upcoming Car Launches In India: June To December 2016

2016 Audi A4

The lighter and larger new generation Audi A4 will be launched in India with better creature comforts and features. Audi will power the 2016 A4 with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine and the motor is expected to produce 190bhp and will be manufactured in India.

Audi will include the 1.4-litre TSI turbo petrol unit which will churn out 150bhp of power and a possibility of 2.0-litre TSI unit as well. The old A4 was mated to a CVT gearbox which will make way for the 7-speed Dual Clutch Gearbox, it will also come with the 5-speed manual gearbox.

Expected Price: Rs. 38 to 40 lakh
Expected Launch: August 2016

Hyundai Tucson

Hyundai has been quiet for the first half of 2016, however, they will launch the Tucson, the third generation model. The Hyundai Tucson will sport the Fluidic Structure 2.0 design language and will be positioned above the Creta and below the Santa Fe.

The Hyundai Tucson is the smaller version of the Santa Fe and will be powered by diesel and petrol engine. The petrol unit is expected to be the new 1.4-litre T-GDI turbocharged.

Expected Price: Rs. 18 to 25 lakh

Hyundai Elantra

Hyundai will continue with launches and next up will be the premium Elantra. The all-new Elantra is based on a new platform and looks more of a coupe than the usual Fluidic Structure 2.0 design Hyundai has been following.

The Hyundai Elantra will be powered by 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine and 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine. The petrol unit is expected to churn out 147bhp and 125bhp from the diesel unit. The gearbox mated to the engine will have the option of 6-speed automatic or manual.

Expected Price: Rs. 16 to 20 lakh
Expected Launch: August - September 2016

Maruti Suzuki Baleno RS

The Baleno is the first premium model which has given the best sales for Maruti and has dominated the mass market products however, they were seen behind in terms of race in the premium segment.

The Maruti Baleno RS will be the powerful model of the car and will be powered by the new 1.0-litre booster jet petrol engine which churns out 112bhp of power. On the design front, the Baleno RS will sport minor body kits in the front, side and rear. Also, features which will characterise the RS tag it will carry.

Expected Price: Rs. 6 to 7 lakh
Expected Launch: October - November 2016

Audi SQ7

Audi will launch its powerful SUV, and it will look to rival the Mercedes in India with SQ7, a high-performance SUV which is powered by a new 4.0-litre twin turbo V8 diesel unit which will churn out a massive 435bhp and torque of 900Nm.

Some of the unique features of the SQ7 are the electric compressor designed to complement the twin-turbochargers by increasing the flow of air in the induction system. The SQ7 goes from 0-100 in 4.8 seconds. Also, it will get active roll bars we see in the Bentley Bentayga.

Expected Price: Rs. 1 to 1.5 crore

Jeep Grand Cherokee

Jeep will make its debut in India with the launch of the Grand Cherokee. It will launch two models of the Cherokee, the first being the standard Grand Cherokee powered by a 3.0-litre diesel engine which develops 240bhp mated to an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

The Grand Cherokee will come with features like heated and ventilated seats, panoramic sunroof, sat-nav, parking sensors, reversing camera, an electric tailgate, and awesome 20-inch chrome alloy wheels.

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT

Jeep will bring the Grand Cherokee SRT to India, the SRT is the performance brand of Jeep. The visual changes include a lot of black elements in the headlamps, front profile, black SRT alloy wheels.

On the inside, the Grand Cherokee SRT, will feature bespoke leather for the interiors and carbon fibre inserts among the many SRT features. The Grand Cherokee SRT will be powered by a 6.4-litre engine which will punch out 482bhp and expected to go from 0-100 kmph in 5 seconds.

Jeep Wrangler Unlimited

The third model from Jeep to be launched in India is the Wrangler Unlimited. It will be the most awaited model from Jeep. The Wrangler Unlimited is a four-door version of the Wrangler SUV in India.

Jeep has powered the Wrangler Unlimited with a 2.8-litre diesel engine which produces 200bhp of power, which will be mated to a 5-speed automatic gearbox and will come in four-wheel drive.

Expected Price: Rs. 30 to Rs. 32 lakh

Maruti Suzuki Ignis

The Ignis will create a new segment altogether; the model is a hatchback but with characteristics of an SUV. It will be positioned below the Swift and the Baleno, it carries a modern and retro look.

Maruti will equip the Ignis with the 1.0-litre K10 petrol engine which is seen in the Alto K10, and a diesel unit will also be offered which will be a 1.3-litre DDiS motor.

Expected Price: Rs. 4 to 6 lakh
Expected Launch: October - November 2016

Nissan X-Trail Hybrid

Nissan is all set to launch India's first fully hybrid SUV, the X-Trail. The old X-Trail was powered by a diesel engine; however, the new X-Trail Hybrid will come in the combination of petrol and hybrid.

The petrol unit will be a 2.0-litre engine which will be paired to an electric motor which will produce 115bhp from the petrol unit and 40bhp from the electric motor.

The new X-Trail is better and current in trend when it comes to the design of the SUV from Nissan.

Expected Price: Rs. 32 to 35 lakh
Expected Launch: End of 2016

Tata Hexa

With the Aria not tasting success by Tata, they have gone back to the drawing board to bring the Aria in a different avatar. The design is promising for Tata and it has taken all the feedbacks positively. The design of the Hexa looks butch and angular and very much in trend.

The Aria looked more like an MPV, however, the Hexa looks like an SUV. The Hexa will be powered by the 2.2-litre Varicor diesel engine we see in the Safari Storme, which develops 156bhp of power and a massive 400Nm of torque.

Expected Price: Rs. 13 to 18 lakh

Tata Nexon

One more model from Tata looks very promising is the Nexon, showcased in the recently held Delhi Auto Expo as a concept, however, the production model will be closer the design of the concept.

Tata seems to have got the design right for the Nexon, its not just in the exterior, the interior is slick and sharp, it boasts of the floating infotainment system which is usually seen in the luxury cars like Audi and Mercedes.

Expected Price: Rs. 6.5 to 9 lakh
Expected Launch: November 2016

Tata Kite 5 (Tiago Sedan)

Tata Tiago recently rolled out 10,000th unit within two months from it launch. Tata is shifting gears and launching good models after losing out in the race.

The Kite 5 is the sub-four-metre compact sedan from the Tiago, it resembles the same except that it comes with the boot and it is unique with the lid. The Kite 5 will replace the Indigo eCS model and below the Zest.

Expected Price: Rs. 4.5 to 6 lakh
Expected Launch: November 2016

Ford Mustang

Ford will bring the iconic Mustang to India, this will be the sixth-generation Mustang which is lighter and stiffer and a whole lot of quality upgrades.

Globally, the Mustang is available in three states of tune, the India bound model will be powered by 5.0-litre V8 engine, which punches out 437bhp and will be mated to a 6-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifters

Expected Price: Rs. 80 lakh
