Armoured Mercedes Maybach S600 Guard Enters India
Mercedes-Maybach has launched the S600 Guard in India. The armoured Maybach S600 Guard is priced at Rs. 10.5 crores ex-showroom (Delhi).
The Mercedes Maybach S600 Guard is the world's first car to recieve the VR10 protection level rating for passenger cars. It is also ERV 2010 (Explosions Resistant Vehicle) certified for blast protection..
These certifications verify that the car's exterior panels and windows can withstand hits from guns, automatic rifles, and sniper rifles as well as hits from Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) and explosives.
The bodywork contains a special variety of steel that is slotted between the outer skin and the frame to provide extra protection to the passengers inside who sit a bit further back as well.
A specilaised coating made from polycarbonate has been applied on the windows to prevent the splinters from flying off in case the glass suffers direct hits.
The Michelin tyres are fitted with steel rings to ensure that they don't slip off in case the tyres are hit and get shredded. They can also run for 29 kilometers with air pressure in tyres at 0psi. Also the steering and axles have been reinforced.
There underbody is armourpalted as well to deflects any blasts from under the car. The fuel tank isn't armored but is coated with a self healing material that seals up any holes caused by blasts or bullets.
If the car is hit by a poison gas attack, the optional fresh air system pumps fresh air into the car to push out the gases inside. Other options include adding a gun rack in the boot to help you fire back at the goons trying to blow you up.
Under the hood, the Mercedes Maybach S600 Guard features the same 6.0-litre twin-turbo V12 that hammers out 523bhp and 830Nm of torque. Despite the 4.7 tonne weight of the armoured Maybach S600 Guard, 0-100km/h takes 7.9 seconds while the top speed is restricted to 190km/h.
The Mercedes Maybach S600 Guard will lock horns with the Audi A8L Security to help protect the rich and the powerful in India.
