German carmaker Mercedes-Benz has launched the S600 Guard in India today. This is an armoured car and Mercedes call it "One Of The Safest Luxury Spots On Earth".
This car is targeted to sell well with government officials and business tycoons, looking for extreme protection against guns and explosives.
Mercedes-Benz first introduced introduced a reinforced passenger car in 1928 and the S600 Guard is the latest in that lineup.

The Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard is powered by a 6.0-litre, V12 petrol engine that produces 530 PS and 830 Nm of peak torque. This powerful engine is mated to a 7G-TRONIC automatic transmission.
The car itself weighs about 4 tonnes and every window weighs about 80 kgs since each glass is 65 mm thick.

Although the level of protection is not visible from the outside, it has undergone numerous tests involving a variety of weapons. It has one of the highest level of protection (VR9), and a fully protected underbody that can withstand two grenade explosions.
The prototype had about 500 gunshots fired at it and not one penetrated the armour. Mercedes will also have a training period of 48 hours for two drivers to safely operate the S Guard. Apart from that, it has:
