Lamborghini Confirms Aventador Engine Too Powerful For RWD
Lamborghini confirms that there will be no RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) Aventador ever produced. There was speculation that a more affordable version of the Aventador will be introduced with RWD. The Aventador is an exclusive supercar and Lamborghini wants to maintain its status.
Recently, Lamborghini launched the Huracan RWD across the globe. The very first RWD by Lamborghini broke cover at 2015 Los Angeles Auto Show. Lamborghini Huracan LP580-2 RWD is the most affordable supercar from the Italian manufacturer.
The Aventador supercar is powered by a 6.5-litre, V12, naturally aspirated engine and a 7-speed ISR gearbox with a dry double clutch. The super produces 690bhp and 690Nm of torque which is delivered to all four wheels. Lamborghini Aventador boasts of a 350km/h top speed and can accelerate from 0-100km/h in a matter of 2.9 seconds.
Engineers at Lamborghini claim that these power figures would not be tameable by a RWD system. The Aventador has phenomenal performance and it needs an AWD (All Wheel Drive) system to make the supercar driveable for all.
Lamborghini has always been offering its exotic supercars with a mid engine and AWD option. The Italian manufacturer will soon be introducing its very first SUV performance vehicle. Lamborghini Urus is not thrilled to introduce the SUV with a RWD and will focus on developing an AWD system which they are specialized in doing.
