Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Unveiled - VW's Flagship For India
German automotive giant Volkswagen has unveiled the Tayron R-Line SUV for the Indian market, positioning it as the brand's flagship seven-seater SUV ahead of its scheduled launch later this year. The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line will rival other premium three-row SUVs such as the Skoda Kodiaq, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and Jeep Meridian in India.
At the heart of the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces 201 bhp and 320 Nm of torque. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission and comes with all-wheel drive (4Motion) as standard.
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line Design & Features
In terms of design, the Tayron R-Line features R-Line-specific front and rear bumpers along with distinctive badging on the grille and doors. The SUV rides on 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and sports HD Matrix LED headlamps with dynamic cornering function. Illuminated Volkswagen logos at both the front and rear add to its premium appeal, while the LED tail lamps come with a variable lighting signature.
The interior of the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is feature-rich and oriented around technology and comfort. A large 15-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system takes centre stage on the dashboard, alongside a fully digital driver display.
The cabin setup of the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line also includes ventilated front seats with memory and massage functions, three-zone climate control, and a panoramic sunroof. Ambient lighting with 30 selectable colours and a Harman Kardon sound system with 11 speakers enhances the premium ambience.
Safety and driver assistance features on the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line include a comprehensive Level-2 ADAS suite, nine airbags including a central airbag, a 360-degree camera system and Park Assist Plus. These systems are designed to provide assistance and protection across a range of driving situations.
The Volkswagen Tayron R-Line is assembled locally in India as part of Volkswagen's manufacturing operations, with assembly already underway at the firm's Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar facility.
Price and exact launch date details are expected to be announced closer to the scheduled rollout in the very near future, and we expect the Volkswagen Tayron R-Line to feature an ex-showroom price in the ₹48-50 lakh range.
