Maruti Suzuki Announces Price Hike From April 8: These Models To Be Affected...
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, a major player in the automobile industry, has declared an upward revision in the prices of several of its models effective from April 8. This adjustment will see prices rise by as much as ₹62,000, marking a significant change for potential buyers. This move aligns with the company's previous statements regarding a price increase of up to 4% to manage growing input and operational costs, alongside the introduction of additional features across its range.
The Grand Vitara, one of Maruti Suzuki's flagship models, is set to experience the most substantial price hike, with an increase of ₹62,000 applicable to all variants. This escalation is part of a broader pricing strategy adjustment that also affects other models in the Maruti Suzuki lineup. For instance, the Eeco van will see a price increase of ₹22,500, while the beloved WagonR hatchback's cost will be adjusted upwards by ₹14,000. Similarly, the company's multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs), the Ertiga and XL6, will become more expensive by ₹12,500.

The company's recent financial performance sheds light on its strategic pricing decisions. In the fiscal year 2024-25, Maruti Suzuki India reported a growth in total sales, with 2,234,266 units sold, marking a 4.63% increase from the previous fiscal year's total of 2,135,323 units. Despite the competitive market, Maruti Suzuki's domestic retail sales saw a marginal increase of 0.05% year-on-year, totaling 1,760,767 units.
Maruti Suzuki's utility vehicle segment, which includes the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Fronx, and others, demonstrated significant growth, with a 12.12% year-on-year increase, reaching 720,186 units. However, the passenger car segment witnessed a decline of 7.7% year-on-year, with sales amounting to 904,909 units. This indicates a shifting consumer preference within Maruti Suzuki's product range.
The company's export achievements have also been noteworthy. Maruti Suzuki crossed the three lakh export milestone in FY25, shipping out 332,585 units, which represented a 17.49% increase from the 283,067 units exported the previous year. Hisashi Takeuchi, MD and CEO of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, emphasized the company's significant contribution to the nation's car exports, accounting for 43% of the total. The automaker has also initiated exports of the Fronx and Jimny 5-door to Japan, highlighting its growing international presence. The top five export markets for Maruti Suzuki include South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Chile, Japan, and Mexico.
On the smaller scale of price adjustments, the Fronx subcompact SUV will see a minimal increase of about ₹2,500, while the Tour S, a sedan derivative of the Dzire aimed at the commercial sector, will have its price raised by ₹3,000. It's worth noting that other models in Maruti Suzuki's commercial lineup will not undergo price changes at this time.
