Hyundai's Great British School Trip Introduces Virtual Lesson And Card Game For Career Conversations
Hyundai's Great British School Trip, now in its third year, is focusing on career education. This initiative supports UK parents and teachers as they navigate the evolving job market. Recent research shows nearly half of UK parents are concerned about advising their children on careers due to rapid changes. Hyundai has introduced a card game called Hyundai Future Jobs Trumps to facilitate career discussions at home and in schools.
The programme has been instrumental since its inception, benefiting almost 165,000 UK children through educational trips with over £3 million in funding. The initiative aims to bridge the gap between parents and the changing world of work. Research commissioned by Hyundai Motor UK reveals that 96% of parents anticipate significant changes in the job market over the next decade.
To address these concerns, Hyundai has collaborated with the National Space Centre and space scientist Dame Dr Maggie Aderin. They offer a virtual lesson exploring future careers in space for students in Years 8–9. This interactive lesson highlights careers shaping both space exploration and life on Earth. It is available during National School Trips Week from 28 April to 4 May.
Dame Dr Maggie Aderin stated, "It’s inspiring to see young people already thinking about future careers in science, tech, and digital media. The challenge is helping them explore these fast-moving fields in meaningful, hands-on ways. That’s why initiatives like The Hyundai Great British School Trip matter. They spark curiosity and open possibilities."
The virtual lesson is accessible nationwide during National School Trips Week, offering schools a chance to win an all-expenses-paid visit to the National Space Centre. This visit focuses on space technology and future careers. Recognising that half of parents believe encouraging children to follow their passions is crucial for career conversations, Hyundai launched the Hyundai Future Jobs Trumps card game.
This fast-paced game encourages dialogue about future roles like Cosmic Architects and AI Ethicists, highlighting necessary skills for success. Suitable for ages nine and up, this free resource can be used at home or while travelling. Parents and teachers can request their pack by filling out a short form.

He noted that over a quarter of parents seek more guidance on future career paths.
Since its launch, The Hyundai Great British School Trip has enabled nearly 165,000 children across the UK to enjoy meaningful educational trips with substantial financial support for schools and families nationwide.
