Tata Motors Focus On Aggressive Sales Growth — To Open 100 New Dealerships This Year
Tata Motors to focus on aggressive sales growth in new fiscal. Will open 100 new dealerships across India. Also will focus on sales in rural villages and younger customers.
Indian carmaker, Tata Motors is expecting to grow faster in the 2018-19 financial year as compared to the last fiscal.
According to ET Auto, the company will add 100 new dealerships this year to push towards the targeted growth. Currently, Tata Motors has 746 dealership outlets across the country.
Tata Motors will concentrate on rural markets and young customers to fuel the company's growth this year. S N Barman, VP, Sales & Marketing, Tata Motors claimed that 60 percent of their customers were in the age group of 30 to 35 years.
He added that the high number of features on the Tiago and the Nexon received great acceptance among the younger car buyers.
Barman also stated that "Tata Motors had a very fast paced growth of over 35 percent in the non-metro or smaller cities compared to about 25 percent rise in sales in the metros."
The company is concentrating on improving its sales in the rural areas, by pushing sales in every village, schools and small towns across India.
India has over six lakh villages across the country with over 97,000 government secondary schools. Tata hopes to touch at least 75,000 villages and 30,000 higher secondary schools in rural areas. The company has set up a target sales figures of a minimum 75,000 units in such villages.
Apart from the rural areas, Tata Motors is also looking at digital platforms to market its product offerings in the country. Barman mentioned how the first interaction of potential Tata customers is through digital interactions. He stated that almost 70 to 80 percent of their customers have their first interaction with a Tata product digitally.
Tata Motors has seen a growth of 22 percent since the last fiscal. The company has sold over 1,87,321 units in 2017-18, as compared to 1,53,151 units the previous year. The most successful products for the Tata during the time period was their Tiago and Tigor offerings. The Nexon and the Hexa vehicles are also steadily gaining traction.

Tata Motors is growing at an aggressive pace in the Indian market. Tata hopes that concentrating on rural markets and young customers will help them grow faster and more aggressively. The latest offering from Tata Motors is the Nexon AMT.
