Honda is planning to bring back the Civic to India in 2017 and wants to win back the premium tag it enjoyed some years back. Here are five things that you need to know about the new Honda Civic.

1. New Honda Civic Design

The all-new generation Honda Civic is longer, wider and sleeker. The front profile is imposing and the overhang bonnet creates a rather youthful and sporty design. The 10th generation Civic is a coupe, this is evident with the sloping roofline towards the rear section.

The new Civic will appeal to the Indian customers for its badging the name 'Civic' which brings a lot of nostalgia and Honda enthusiasts will welcome the Civic to India.

2. Tenth-Generation Civic Globally

India last saw the eighth-generation Honda Civic and was discontinued in 2013, since the Civic was available only in the petrol model, India was moving towards diesel technology and the Civic lost out to the diesel cars like the Skoda's and the Volkswagen.

3. New Honda Civic Engine

Since the New Civic needs to be competitive, Honda will offer both the petrol and diesel engines for India. The petrol engine is expected to be a 1.8-litre engine which will punch out 143bhp and the diesel will be of 1.6-litre engine producing 120bhp.

For the Civic enthusiasts, there is more, Honda might offer the 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine, developing 175bhp.

4. Better Performance Chassis

Honda is claiming that the new chassis which is the best in the history of Civic, the Japanese car maker will be injecting ultra-high-strength steel and has better rigidity. This confirms better handling of the new generation Civic.

5. High-Decibel Competition

The New Honda Civic will go rival the Toyota Corolla, Skoda Octavia, Volkswagen Jetta, upcoming Hyundai Elantra and Chevrolet Cruze. With this kind of competitors, we can expect the New Civic to cost anything in the range of Rs. 15 - 18 lakh.
