Factory Five Coupe 818 Introduced
US based kit car manufacturer Factory Five has introduced a coupe version of the 818. The company manufactures cars that are sold to the owners to assemble it on their own.
The mid-engined, rear-wheel drive 818 is based on the Subaru Impreza/WRX and ‘818' stands for the weight of the kit, which is 818 kilograms. This is the company's first global product.
The 818 has been bought by customers from the United Kingdom and from Australia, mainly because of the Impreza'a lightweight construction and handling.
Factory Five claim that the 818 is the most technologically-advanced creation, and it takes up to 250 hours of man work to have a fully operational car.
Factory Five provides the customer with a frame, body, chassis panels, front and rear suspension, steering, fuel and cooling systems, exterior and interiors trims and lighting.
All the other components however, have to be acquired by the customer and be assembled by an expert. The total cost of a fully functional car is around USD 15,000.
