Donkervoort D8 GTO: A Speed Quencher
The thirst for speed has two cures. One get a car with the highest horsepower output, or two, get a car that offers an amazing power to weight ratio.
The second option is exactly what Holland has to offer. Following Caterham's method of keeping everything light around the D8 GTO with a powerful engine, a turbocharged Audi powerplant in this case to be precise.
Weighing just 695 kg, the 5-cylinder, 2.5-litre turbocharged engine pumps out 380 bhp, with sheer performance built into the cars DNA.
The car can accelerate to 62 mph in 2.8 seconds and fly past the 125 mph in as little as 8.6 seconds.
That was enough for the company to make the D8 GTO Bilster Berg Edition. Weighing 10 kgs less, the car shattered the lap record for a street-legal production car around the German circuit.
This car features stiffer Chassis, semi-slick tyres, carbon fibre seats and ultra-light carpets.
The price for such a speed quencher starts at €194,000 (£152,000), and only 14 cars will be made to celebrate a successful year 2014 for the company.
