Mercedes-Benz India 15 In ‘15—A Detailed Look

Mercedes-Benz was determined to be the luxury car segment leader in India, and came with an aggressive strategy to launch 15 cars this year. Till date (14th October 2015), the German carmaker has launched 13 models.

Mercedes has two more launches this year, and this leaves one wondering what could be next. The Mercedes AMG-GT perhaps? Well, since Mercedes themselves don't want to burst the bubble for us, let's take a look at what the carmaker launched till date as part of their 15 car launch strategy.

1. GLE

This was Mercedes' 13 launch in the country. The GLE SUV is more a facelift version of the ML-Class that was already sold in India. The GLE features a new 9-speed automatic gearbox and the 4MATIC all-wheel drive system. It is on sale with two engine options—250D and 350D.
On-road price:

• Mercedes-Benz GLE 250D - Rs. 69 lakh
  
• Mercedes-Benz GLE 350D - Rs. 82 lakh
  

2. Mercedes-Maybach

Mercedes also decided to launch the Maybach versions—the luxury models of the cars and launched the Mercedes-Maybach S600 and S500. The cars received phenomenal response in the Indian market and the S500 was sold out on the same day!
On-road price:

• Mercedes-Maybach S500 - Rs. 1.95 crore
  
• Mercedes-Maybach S600 - Rs. 3.1 crore
  

3. CLA

Being the sedan derivative of the A-Class, the CLA is front-wheel drive. The car shares the same underpinnings as the A-, B- and GLA-Class, although it has better ground clearance, designed keeping India in mind. It is offered with a diesel and petrol engine, and even has an AMG version.
On-road price:

• Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class (diesel) - Rs. 36 lakh
  
• Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class (petrol) - Rs. 38 lakh
  

4. C220 CDI

The Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI was launched in India and was soon produced locally at the company's facility at Chakan to cater to the demands of Indian customers. The car also won 'World Car Of The Year' award.

• Mercedes-Benz C220 CDI (diesel) - Rs. 44 lakh onwards

5. B-Class

The all new B-Class was launched with updated features and exterior. The car is an apt vehicle for small families, looking for a luxury vehicle. The B-Class was launched with a choice of petrol and diesel engine. The petrol motor was retained from the previous model, however the diesel engine was tuned for more power.
On-road price:

• Mercedes-Benz B-Class (diesel) - Rs. 35 lakh

6. E-Class Cabriolet

Now, this is a car that looks stunning—Mercedes-Benz E 400 Cabriolet. The convertible from the German carmaker is available in one variant only, as a two door, petrol version that produces 333 horsepower from its turbocharged V6 engine.

7. CLS 250 CDI

Although just a facelift, Mercedes-Benz decided to offer the CLS 250 with a diesel engine to cater to a large number of people in India, and sell more products since the petrol variant is offered only with a V6.

8. S600 Guard

For some the S600 Guard may seem extreme, but what if someone's out there to get you, equipped with machine guns, grenades and flamethrowers? Then the VR9 level protection offered in the Mercedes-Benz S600 Guard will be the right vehicle. The car is targeted at high profile businessmen and politicians. Mercedes calls it 'One of the safest luxury spots on earth'.

9. S500 Coupé

The Mercedes-Benz S500 coupe was launched along with the S63 AMG Coupe. The S500 is powered by a 4.7-litre, twin turbo, V8 engine that produces 453 bhp and 700 Nm of peak torque.

10. Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupé

The S63 Coupe was launched along with the S500. The Mercedes-AMG S63 Coupe receives a larger, 5.5-litre, twin turbo, V8 that offers 577 bhp and 900 Nm of peak torque at the driver's disposal.

11. Mercedes-AMG S 63 sedan

Now, one might think how many S-Class models did Mercedes launch! The S63 sedan is a four door model that breathes out AMG with every stroke. This car has a 5.5-litre biturbo V8 that produces 585 bhp under the hood and features Mercedes' magic body control system.

12. AMG G 63 'Crazy Colour'

The Mercedes G-Class is a crazy vehicle by itself. AMG laying their hands on the SUV makes it crazier and to beat it all is the name Mercedes has given the off-roader—Crazy Colour option! We have all heard the famous saying "Where there's a will, there is a way". With the G-Class, the saying goes "Even if there is a wall, there is way".

13. Mercedes-AMG C63 S

0 to 100 km/h in four seconds, top speed limited to 250 km/h, 4.0-litre, twin-turbo V8 that produces 503 bhp and 714 Nm of peak torque, 7-speed AMG Speedshift and an aggressive body kit. This is what the Mercedes-AMG C63 S is all about!

14. Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S

The Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S was what every single enthusiast in India wanted and Mecedes did so by bringing the big fish to India. The AMG GT S is powered by a 4.0-litre, twin turbocharged V8 engine that produces 503bhp and 650Nm of torque. The AMG GT S will be sold as a completely built unit in India.

15. Mercedes-Benz A-Class Facelift

The facelifted Mercedes-Benz A-Class is simply one of the best looking hatchbacks in the country and the new model looks even more stunning with revised bumpers, headlamps and the new Green. The model retains the 2.2-litre 135bhp diesel engine and the 1.6-litre 121bhp petrol engine.
