TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty is a purpose-built two-wheeler for the working class and follows a basic styling in between today’s commuter motorcycles and scooters. Or simply, it’s a moped. In traditional moped fashion, there is a loading area at the front and the fuel tank is pushed forwards.
The engine is located at the very base at an almost-horizontal position. Metallic paint finishes and vibrant graphics make the TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty look new. The moped can also be attached with a luggage box at the rear for added convenience. The high ground clearance ensures that you can use the TVS XL 100 over most demanding rural road conditions.
The TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty has also got a basic grab rail at the rear. The seats offer lots of cushioning while the suspension has got decent travel at the front and rear. The overall dimensions are pretty small but the seating position is quite upright for riders of all sizes.
The TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty is powered by a 99.7cc air-cooled engine which makes just 4.3bhp and 6.5Nm. It is mated to a single-speed gearbox. Performance figures are quite low but that is not what the TVS XL 100 is aimed for.
Riding the XL 100 is quite an easy job due to the single-speed drivetrain. The moped can go through road undulations decently well too. The TVS XL 100 is not about performance and can go only at very moderate speeds. At a kerb weight of just 80kg, the XL 100 is extremely light and one can even lift it using the arms.
Being a purpose-built two-wheeler, the TVS XL 100 is especially preferred for agricultural and industrial use. In fact, a lot of major companies bulk order the TVS XL 100 and even use it indoors. The XL 100 seems to be the ideal choice for it rather any other scooter or motorcycle.
The TVS XL 100 showcases just the output to go at moderate speeds while also weighing very less. This gives the moped a decent mileage figure of 68km/l (claimed).
The new TVS XL 100 Heavy Duty features just the basic equipment as before but comes in a better package. The entire construction of the moped is built to last for years and the XL 100 is meant for rough use. Unlike the other variants, the Heavy Duty comes with split seats, silencer guard, LED DRL and a distinct body graphics.
The TVS XL 100, as mentioned before, is a purpose-built scooter. Most of us might not find it attractive but the XL 100 is extremely useful in rural areas for short-distance travelling. The XL 100 is also the only moped on sale in India and many have a small affinity towards the small two-wheeler.
You can either contact your nearest TVS dealership or you can check out the official TVS XL 100 website. We would suggest referring the website for a better overview rather than directly heading to the showroom.
Only the recently-launched TVS XL 100 i-Touch Start variant has got self-start. It also features an USB charger.
