Lexus has revealed their compact SUV, the LBX. It is the smallest SUV in their fleet and has a hybrid powertrain.
The Lexus LBX is based on Toyota’s TNGA-B Platform that is also used in the Yaris Cross sold in the European Markets.
The new Lexus is 4,190mm long, 1,825mm wide, 1,560mm tall, and has a 2,580mm long wheelbase.
Powering the Lexus is a parallel hybrid powertrain which includes a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine, with a balancer shaft for greater refinement and an electric motor.
The LBX’s powertrain pumps out 134bhp and 185Nm of torque which is sent to the front wheels through a CVT gearbox. It does a 0-100km/h sprint in 9.2 seconds.
Power is drawn from a new bi-polar nickel metal hybrid (NIMH) battery pack that can charge faster than a regular NIMH battery.
Lexus also has plans of adding another motor to the rear axle, to make it an AWD.
The front of the car has Lexus’ new spindle grille and the front bumper has a large mesh section.
The side of the SUV has flared wheel arches that house either 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels. Also, we see a chrome strip from the A-pillar to the C-pillar.
At the rear, we see a spoiler and a full LED lightbar that sits across the full width of the car on top of a raised section of the boot lid.
Coming to the interior - we find a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 9.8-inch infotainment screen that has Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also has a 338-litre boot.
