Bangalore-based EV manufacturer Ather Energy has rolled out its 100,000th electric scooter from its manufacturing facility. The 100,000th Ather scooter was a Gen 3 450X finished in the newly revealed shade of True Red.
The Bangalore-based EV firm also celebrated a brilliant first month of the year first by revealing updates to its Gen 3 lineup of scooters at its Community Day event on the 7th of January.
Ather has now released its sales numbers for January and the figures are promising once again. Ather's sales grew by 330 per cent year-over-year compared to the same period in 2022. Ather sold 12,149 scooters in January 2023, which is the best-ever sales for the company to date. Ather sold 9,324 more units in January 2023 that the 2,825 units it sold in the first month of 2022.
Ather's Month-over-Month numbers also showed positive growth rising by 32.24 per cent compared to December 2022. Ather Energy's sales grew by 2,962 units from the 9,187 units sold in the final month of 2022.
Ather had hit the 50,000 units production mark back in August 2022 but as the EV manufacturer has continued its network and dealership expansion across the country the demand for its quick electric scooters has risen exponentially. The increase in demand for its scooters pushed Ather to open a second manufacturing facility in November of 2022. However, even that is set to get fully utilized by the end of the next fiscal year.
Ather though is prepared and is set to open a new production facility in Hosur by the end of FY2023 which will more than double its production capacity. The new facility will be able to produce up to 10 lakh units per year. Ather's two current facilities have the capacity to produce 4.2 lakh scooters annually.
Ather continued the unrelenting process of opening new dealerships across the country in January opening 13 new Ather Space showrooms in cities including Ahmedabad, Erode, Guntur and Hosur.
Speaking about Ather's performance and achievements in Janury, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy said, "We had a great start to this year, registering our best-ever monthly sales by delivering 12,419 units to our customers. We were thrilled by the response we received from the biggest-ever EV community day that we organised earlier in January. We also introduced Atherstack 5.0, our latest software upgrade that brings in a host of new features on our scooters, such as Vector Maps by Google and AutoHoldTM. Ather also announced an industry-leading 5-year warranty on its scooters and showcased its four new colours. On the retail front, Ather continued to rapidly expand its retail presence, and we opened 13 new outlets in January. Ather now has 102 Experience Centres in 80 cities. Our growing presence as well as new exciting features on the scooters have contributed to our increase in sales."
Thoughts About Ather's Production Milestone & Record-Breaking January Sales
Ather hit the 100,000 units production mark in January as it continues to rapidly push into even more cities across the country. With both production and demand ramping up, we expect Ather to continue growing exponentially as it continues to draw Indians onto electric scooters.
