Upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 - Bigger & More Powerful
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a fairly simple and rugged motorcycle designed to take you on a variety of trails, however, the motorcycle lacked the outright punch. As a result, Royal Enfield is now developing a more powerful version of the Himalayan motorcycle.
With the new Royal Enfield Himalayan, the automaker can easily compete with more powerful motorcycles in the segment such as the KTM 390 Adventure, and BMW G310 GS.
As per various sources, the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan will use an advanced liquid-cooled, 450cc, single-cylinder engine. This engine is expected to produce around 45bhp of peak power and 50Nm of peak torque.
However, there is a possibility that Royal Enfield could sacrifice the peak power output for a better low-end response by increasing the torque output of the power unit. Such a type of powertrain character would be beneficial as well.
We expect the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 to be sold alongside the outgoing iteration of the Royal Enfield Himalayan motorcycle as both motorcycles are targeted at slightly different customers.
In addition to that, numerous spy shots of the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 have been leaked online and analysing these spied pictures reveals that the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle will be slightly bigger than the outgoing model as well.
Moreover, the leaked images also confirm that the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 sports design traits such as a beaked nose, round headlights, a much larger fuel tank, spoked wheels and a lightweight steel trellis frame.
In addition to that, we expect the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 to come with a decent feature list consisting of features such as LED headlights, a Bluetooth-enabled Instrument console, switchable dual-channel ABS, and a few more. Moreover, the upcoming motorcycle may even feature multiple ride modes as well.
In terms of hardware, the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 motorcycle will feature large 21-inch wheels at the front and standard 17-inch wheels at the rear, both shod with knobbed tyres. Moreover, the spied pictures confirm that the upcoming Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 will sport USD forks at the front and mono-shock at the rear.
At present, the KTM 390 Adventure is priced at Rs 3.37 lakh (ex-showroom, India), whereas the BMW G310 GS is priced from Rs 3.10 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Looking at these prices, we expect, Royal Enfield to undercut both its competitors and price the upcoming Himalayan 450 around Rs 3 lakh, ex-showroom.
Current Royal Enfield Himalayan uses a 411cc, air-cooled, SOHC, fuel-injected, BS6 engine. This engine produces 24.3bhp of peak power at 6,500 rpm and 32Nm of peak torque at 4,500rpm, and it is mated to a 5-speed transmission. Prices for the Royal Enfield Himalayan start from Rs 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
