Triumph Trident 660 Recalled — Triumph To Replace Side-Stand On Affected Units: Here’s Why
The Triumph Trident 660 has been recalled due to an issue with the side stand. Triumph has recalled its entry-level roadster to replace the side stand. According to the recall document, all units of the Triumph Trident manufactured between 07 February 2021 and May 15 2021 are affected by this issue and Triumph will be replacing the side stand free of cost.
The Triumph Trident 660 is one of those motorcycles in recent times that piqued the interest of many. It has everything that one would expect of a proper Triumph motorcycle, but is priced at a lower point than even the Bonneville range. The best part of it all is that it is powered by a proper howling inline-three-cylinder engine.
The engine puts out 80bhp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm at 6,250rpm, making it one of the most tractable and enjoyable engines in the segment. The Triumph Trident 660 is also loaded with features. You get full LED lighting, traction control, ABS, a full-colour TFT screen, Bluetooth connectivity, etc.
With a motorcycle like this, it goes without saying that sales charts are booming for Triumph. Now though, a small problem has been discovered. It is not an issue that would end up in catastrophe, at least not in the near future.
The quality of the metal used to manufacture the side stand on the Triumph Trident produced during the three months aforementioned is sub-standard. It was manufactured by Fujin Corporation Pvt Ltd, in Faridabad, Haryana and it is now discovered that the raw materials used in the manufacturing are of an incorrect specification.
As a result, the side stand on the affected models could over a period of time bend or warp, causing the motorcycle to lean over dangerously. After a longer period of usage, the stand would bend even further and this might cause the motorcycle to tip over, thereby damaging the bike even while at a standstill.
The NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration) of the USA issued the recall document. According to the document, 314 motorcycles are affected by the recall in the American market only. However, there are motorcycles in India too, that are affected by this problem.
Triumph will replace the defective part on all of the affected motorcycles, free of cost.
Thoughts On Triumph Trident Being Recall Due To Issue With Side Stand
Issuing a recall is a procedure that is expensive to the brand, both in terms of finances as well as in terms of the brand image. However, the fact that the company is checking every single component that is used on the motorcycle even after it is sold, shows thorough quality checks and that is in reality a brilliant trait of a motorcycle manufacturer.
