Tork Motors has finally launched its much-awaited electric motorcycle, Tork Kratos in India and prices for the new Tork Kratos start from Rs 1.07 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune). Apart from this electric motorcycle, Tork also introduced the more powerful Tork Kratos R variant and prices for the Tork Kratos R starts from Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom, Pune).
Speaking about the company, Tork Motors was one of the first start-up companies in India to showcase their electric motorcycle in the market, and the product had created a lot of stir in the Indian automotive market.
Apart from that, the Tork Kratos is available in 4 different colour shades (the standard variant is available in white only) and 2 variants - Kratos and Kratos R. According to Tork Motors, interested customers can book the Kratos online for just Rs 999 and we expect deliveries for the electric motorcycle will commence by a couple of months.
As part of Phase 1, the Tork Kratos and Kratos R will be available in 6 major Indian cities such as Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Ahmedabad. However, the company is looking to expand to 100 more cities during the 2nd phase.
Keen people would remember the electric motorcycle from Tork Motors was initially named 'T6X', but the all-electric motorcycle has been renamed as 'Kratos'. However, the company is adamant that the Kratos is an all-new motorcycle compared to the T6X.
Apart from that, Bharat Forge Limited (BFL) has backed Tork Motors since 2018 as a strategic investor for the startup company via its subsidiary Kalyani Powertrain Ltd.
According to Tork Motors, the Kratos is the first vertically integrated electric vehicle in India and the start-up company is expected to commence deliveries of the electric motorcycle within X months from its launch.
Speaking about the Tork Kratos, the electric motorcycle is powered by the company's proprietary 'Tork LIION' battery pack with advanced Axial flux topology. According to Tork Motors, this setup allows extracting the highest peak power and range.
Speaking about specification, the Tork Kratos comes with a 7.5kW electric motor with 28Nm of torque. Apart from that, the electric motorcycle also comes equipped with a large 4kWh battery pack which is IP67 rated.
Whereas the Tork Kratos R is powered by a more potent 9kW electric motor with 38Nm of torque. However, it continues to use the same 4kWh battery pack. Performance-wise, the Tork Kratos can do 0-40km/h in just 3.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 120km/h, which is 0.5 seconds quicker and 20km/h faster than the standard motorcycle.
According to Tork Motors, both the Kratos and Kratos R electric motorcycles can do 120kms on a single charge in real-world conditions. Speaking about charging, Tork Kratos range of motorcycles come with a home charging kit and the electric motorcycle takes less than 1 hour to charge from 0 per cent to 80 per cent using a suitable DC fast charger.
Apart from this, the Tork Kratos motorcycles feature the company's signature Tork Intuitive Response Operating System (TIROS). This system according to Tork Motors is an intelligence system that aides urban users for an 'unparallel riding experience'.
Moreover, the Tork Intuitive Response Operating System is used for technical analysis, power management, real-time power consumption, data compilation on each ride. According to Tork Motors, TIROS plays a critical role in complementing the rider and the motorcycle.
Tork Kratos uses a Split Trellis Frame and uses the battery pack as a stressed member. Apart from that, the battery pack is placed lower in the frame to optimize the centre of gravity of the electric motorcycle. Despite the battery being kept low, the Tork Kratos comes with a respectable 165mm of ground clearance.
According to Tork Motors, the Tork Kratos is equipped with features such as 4G telemetry for data and service support, LED headlights, LED taillamps, a fully digital instrument display, multiple ride modes, crash alert and a few more.
Apart from these, in the Tork Kratos R, the company promises two years of free network access and comes with additional features such as Geo-fencing, Find My Vehicle, Track Mode & Analytics and a few more nifty features.
Speaking about Tork Motors, the company has filed more than 50 patents and designs under Intellectual Property Rights to bolster its R&D and cutting-edge technology since the inception of the company.
Thoughts About Tork Kratos & Tork Kratos R
The company is adamant that the Kratos is an all-new motorcycle compared to the T6X, as the Kratos has improved ergonomics with changes such as a new version of the split seat for improved seating comfort during city rides, more range and faster-charging capability compared to T6X.
Moreover, the introduction of the more powerful and feature-rich Tork Kratos R has been a pleasant surprise.
