Suzuki V-Storm SX 250 Vs KTM 250 Adventure: Design, Powertrain, Features, Hardware & Price
Suzuki Motorcycles has launched the all-new Suzuki V-Storm SX 250 in India and the motorcycle is positioned at a significant price advantage compared to the KTM 250 Adventure.
In this comparison, we shall compare the design, powertrain, features, hardware and price of both motorcycles.
Design
Design is a very subjective matter and both motorcycles come with very unique and iconic designs that couldn't be mistaken for other motorcycles.
The newly launched Suzuki V-Storm SX 250 comes with a lot of road presence. Moreover, the beaked nose and octagonal LED headlamps give the motorcycle a unique identity.
On the other hand, the KTM 250 Adventure comes with a very sharp design language that is unmistakably KTM. Moreover, the partially expose Trellis frame gives the motorcycle a more premium appeal.
Features
In terms of features, the Suzuki V-Storm SX 250 comes with features such as LED headlamps, LED taillamps, dual-channel ABS, front and rear disc brakes, USB charging port, alloy wheels, a fully-digital instrument cluster with Suzuki Ride Connect, turn-by-turn navigation, incoming call alert, SMS alert, WhatsApp Alert, missed call alert, speed exceeding warning, phone battery level indicator, estimated time of arrival, and a few more.
The KTM 250 Adventure is the older motorcycle among the two, but it just lacks the Bluetooth connectivity feature offered by the Suzuki V-Storm SX 250. Apart from that, the KTM 250 Adventure comes packed with features such as a full-colour LCD display, LED taillamps, dual-channel ABS, front and rear disc brakes, alloy wheels, and a few more.
Hardware
In terms of hardware, Suzuki has equipped the motorcycle with more off-road friendly 19-inch wheels at the front and 17-inch wheels at the rear, telescopic front suspension with slightly longer wheel travel, and a 7-step pre-load adjustable rear monoshock.
KTM on the other hand is clearly the more premium motorcycle with better hardware such as the 43mm WP Apex USD forks at the front, adjustable WP Apex monoshock at the rear, stiffer Trellis frame and larger 14-litre fuel tank (Suzuki V-Storm SX 250 is equipped with 12-litre fuel tank).
Powertrain
The overseas model of the Suzuki V-Storm 250 (Suzuki DL250 AL and Suzuki DL250 AM) is powered by a parallel-twin cylinder engine from the Suzuki Inazuma 250 producing 24bhp of power and 22Nm of torque. However, the newly launched Suzuki V-Storm SX 250 uses the same 249cc, single-cylinder, SOHC engine from the Suzuki Gixxer 250 and this engine produces a healthier 26.5bhp of power and 22.2Nm of torque. Also, this engine comes mated to a 6-speed transmission.
In comparison, the KTM 250 Adventure comes with a more potent and a bit more advanced 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine with 29.63 bhp of power and 24Nm of torque. In addition to that, the KTM 250 Adventure also features a slipper clutch for the 6-speed transmission for smoother downshifts.
Price
The Suzuki V-Strom 250 is priced at Rs 2.11 lakh (ex-showroom, India). On the other hand, the KTM 250 Adventure is priced at Rs 2.35 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
Thoughts About Suzuki V-Storm SX 250 & KTM 250 Adventure
For a price difference of fewer than Rs 25,000, the KTM 250 Adventure offers much superior hardware and also packs in a bit more punch.
The Suzuki V-Storm could have been a great adventure motorcycle if Suzuki prices the motorcycle a bit more aggressively.
