Royal Enfield Hunter 350 Vs TVS Ronin - Design, Features, Powertrain, Price & More
Royal Enfield recently launched the Hunter 350 motorcycle and the motorcycle quickly gained traction in the Indian two-wheeler market. On the other hand, TVS has also launched the Ronin motorcycle in India to compete with the Royal Enfield motorcycles in the country. As such, we shall compare both these motorcycles in terms of their design, features, powertrain, and price to see which one is better.
Design
The newly launched TVS Ronin features a very unique styling and the overall design heavily draws inspiration from retro motorcycles, power cruisers, scramblers and more. Though individual elements are inspired by different genres of motorcycles, the overall effect comes out as unique and pleasing to the eyes.
In comparison, the design of the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is kept very simple and can be identified as a Royal Enfield motorcycle. Moreover, thanks to its simplicity, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 has a lot of potential to be customised as per the user's preference.
Features
As mentioned earlier, the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 is a very simple and straightforward motorcycle, even the top-spec Hunter 350 motorcycle does not come with LED headlights. Other noticeable features include a part digital-analogue instrument cluster, LED tail lamps, dual-channel ABS, tripper navigation module, alloy wheels, and disc brake at front and rear.
On the other hand, the TVS Ronin comes loaded to the brim with features such as trip stats, gear shift indicator, adjustable levers, voice assistant, ride mode indicator, TVS' SmartXonnect connected vehicle system with features such as turn-by-turn navigation, calls and SMS alerts.
Powertrain
In terms of specifications, the new Royal Enfield Hunter 350 motorcycle uses the same 349.34cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine from the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 and Royal Enfield Classic 350 motorcycles. This engine in the Hunter 350 puts out 19.94bhp of peak power at 6,100rpm and 27Nm of peak torque at 4,000rpm, and comes paired to the same 5-speed gearbox.
On the other hand, the TVS Ronin puts out 20.12bhp of peak power and 19.93Nm of peak torque from its smaller 225.9cc engine. Though TVS Ronin also sports a 5-speed gearbox, TVS has equipped its motorcycle with a slip and assist clutch.
Suspension & Brakes
TVS has equipped the Ronin motorcycle with a dual-channel ABS unit with switchable modes - Rain and Urban. Other than this, the TVS Ronin also comes with more sophisticated USD forks at the front and monoshock at the rear. Braking duty is taken care by a 300mm disc brake at the front and a smaller 240mm disc brake at the rear.
The Royal Enfield Hunter 350 motorcycle also comes equipped with a dual-channel ABS system. However, the suspension setup comprises a less-sophisticated telescopic unit at the front and twin shocks at the rear. While the front brakes are similar, the rear brakes in the Hunter 350 comprise a larger 270mm disc.
At 160kg, the TVS Ronin is also a very light motorcycle compared to the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 motorcycle, which weighs at 181kg.
Price
The TVS Ronin is priced from Rs 1.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base variant with a single-tone paint scheme and single-channel ABS. However, the top-spec variant with dual-channel ABS is priced at Rs 1.71 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
In comparison, prices for the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 also starts at roughly the same point, however, the top-spec version of the Hunter 350 costs almost Rs 5k less than the top-spec Ronin motorcycle.
Thoughts About Royal Enfield Hunter 350 & TVS Ronin
The TVS Ronin comes with plenty of features and a reasonably powerful engine that is capable of occasional long rides. Moreover, TVS has also priced the motorcycle just right to attract a few younger Royal Enfield customers.
On the other hand, Royal Enfield launched the Hunter 350 with the intention to attract a younger demographic to the Royal Enfield family, and this ‘intention' reflects in its sales figures as well.
