Ola S1 Pro Front Suspension Breaks - Another Hardware Issue?
Ola yet again takes the limelight, however, this time it is not for positive news. A few reports have started to surface regarding the durability of the front suspension.
In the latest issue, an Ola S1 Pro electric scooter user posted a few pictures of his Ola S1 Pro, in which a part of the front suspension of that scooter was broken. In the post, the user claims that the front fork of the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter is weak.
In that post, the Ola user also requested the company for a replacement and a design change on the part. The user also blamed the poor material quality for the incident.
Ola Electric issued a statement regarding the incident."So far, our scooters have travelled over 45 million cumulative km on Indian roads. The recently reported incidents of front fork breakage are due to isolated high-impact accidents. All our scooters undergo rigorous quality and performance assessment across different terrains and riding conditions in India."
This is not the first time, Ola electric scooters are criticised. Earlier, in a recent incident involving Ola electric scooter, a rider claims to have been injured after the Ola electric scooter went into reverse mode at full speed.
This unfortunate incident took place to a 65-year old man in Jabalpur. The injured man is the father of the person who owns the Ola S1 Pro electric scooter that was involved in the incident. The owner claimed that his father was severely injured while parking his Ola S1 Pro electric scooter as the scooter reversed in speed excess of 50km/h.
Earlier, a son of an Ola user reported a similar incident. According to the owner, the incident happened due to a "fault in regenerative breaking where on a speed breaker instead of slowing, the scooter accelerated..."
While rebutting the claims by this owner, Ola publicly released the telemetry data of the user and landed in a fresh controversy involving the consumer's right to data privacy.
Speaking about Ola Electric, the startup company received an overwhelming response with 1 lakh+ pre-bookings within the first 24 hours of opening its pre-booking portal. The customers who previously pre-booked the Ola electric scooter were able to book the Ola electric scooter by paying Rs 20,000.
Moreover, Ola Electric even provided financial assistance through its Ola Financial Services (OFS) to make full payment. According to Ola Electric, its customers can avail the 'best-in-class' finance options from its Ola Financial Services.
Speaking about Ola electric scooters, Ola Electric claims that the Ola S1 electric scooter can cover 121km on a single charge, whereas the Ola S1 pro electric scooter can manage 181km. However, according to the company, the 'True Range' of Ola S1 Pro is rated at 135km.
Despite both variants looking similar, the Ola S1 uses a smaller 2.98kWh battery pack, whereas the Ola S1 Pro comes with a larger 3.97kWh battery pack. However, both scooters come with almost-identical electric motors.
Moreover, the Ola S1 Pro gets a few more additional features and performance as well. This means the Ola S1 Pro is slightly faster with an official 0-40 kmph time of 3 seconds and a top speed of 115 kmph. In contrast, the same feat in Ola S1 takes 3.6 seconds to 40 kmph and could manage a slightly lower top speed of 90 kmph.
Also, the Ola electric scooter is a very practical electric scooter with its large 50-litre under-seat storage, which is almost twice as large as most scooters available in India.
Thoughts About Ola Electric
Ola Electric must quickly sort out the issues with its new electric scooter as it can hurt the sales figures in long run. Apart from that, the company's reputation will take a major hit due to such issues.
In addition to that, Ola Electric is also improving the EV charging infrastructure by installing its 'Hyperchargers' across the nation.
