Ola Electric ‘Shocks’ The Country Again - Ola S1 Bookings Open & Ola Electric Car Unveiled
Last year on the 74th Independence Day of India, Ola Electric 'shocked' the country by unveiling its electric scooter range - Ola S1, and Ola S1 Pro. Now, exactly a year later, Ola Electric has again 'shocked' the country again by revealing the highlights of its upcoming electric car, and its future plans.
Starting the Ola S1, the electric scooter is now open for bookings and it is priced at an introductory price of Rs 99,999. Moreover, the Ola S1 can be pre-booked from today onwards till the end of this month for Rs 499.
Also, according to Ola Electric, the Early Access purchase window for the Ola S1 opens on September 01 and the standard purchase window opens the next day. In addition to all these, the deliveries for the Ola S1 electric scooters are scheduled to commence from September 07 onwards.
Ola has also tied up with multiple banks to facilitate loans for the Ola S1 electric scooter. Moreover, these banks offer exciting offers such as loan processing fee wavier and low EMI of Rs 2,999.
Speaking about Ola S1, it comes with a slightly smaller battery pack that is rated at 3kWh. However, thanks to MoveOS2, the Ola S1 comes with an ARAI-certified range of 131km per full charge.
Moreover, Ola electric claims that the Ola S1 electric scooter can do 128km in ECO mode, 101km in Normal Mode, and 90km in Sports mode. Also, the topspeed of the Ola S1 electric scooter is rated at 95km/h. In addition to that, the Ola S1 electric scooter is available in 5 different colour shades as well.
Also, the EV maker is planning to launch the much-awaited MoveOS3 around Diwali. This updated software is likely to come with even better battery management than MoveOS2 and also sport a few extra features as well.
Along with this, Ola Electric has also launched the limited edition Ola S1 Pro 'KHAKI'. This model is limited to just 1947 units and wears a distinctive matte khaki shade.
That being said, the startup EV manufacturer is planning to launch the Ola electric car by 2024 and the company has already set a few goals regarding its design, specifications and performance.
According to Ola Electric, its upcoming electric car will have more than 500km of range on a full charge and can do a 0-100km/h sprint in under 4-seconds. Moreover, one of the highlighted design features of the Ola electric car would be its all-glass roof.
All these statements by Ola Electric indicate that the startup EV manufacturer is seriously planning to take on the EV giants such as Tesla. In fact, with such specifications, the upcoming Ola electric car can comfortably rival the Tesla Model 3 and other electric cars such as Mercedes-Benz EQC, Volvo XC40 electric, and many more.
Overall, it is clear that the upcoming Ola electric car has been designed not only to please Indian consumers but global consumers as well. It is also worth mentioning that the upcoming Ola electric car will be using the startup EV maker's MoveOS.
Also, keeping up with the times, the upcoming Ola electric car will have features such as semi-autonomous driving aids, which the Ola Electric dubs 'Assisted Driving Capability'. Other highlightable features include a drag co-efficient of less than 0.21cd. To put that into perspective, the Mercedes Benz EQS has a drag co-efficient of just 0.20cd, which is the most aerodynamic car currently available in the market.
Speaking about Ola Electric's future plans, the startup EV maker is planning to further extend its FutureFactory with an annual production capacity of 1 million cars and 10 million scooters. Moreover, the company is also planning to build a new 100 Acre cell manufacturing plant nearby.
While revealing these details, Ola Electric also revealed that the company will have 6 different electric cars built on two different platforms.
Thoughts About Ola Electric
With Ola Electric's future plans revealed, it is clear that the company is aiming at a global level and committed to a very long-term goal. Such ambitious plans should inspire other companies to follow such a path to make India a global EV manufacturing hub.
