Ola Electric Scooter Lit On Fire In Tamilnadu: Owner Claims Poor Performance & Range
In amidst of electric scooters catching fire or exploding, an owner of a Ola S1 Pro electric scooter had set his electric scooter on fire by pouring petrol over it.
The above incident has now gone viral on various social media platforms and as per Sun News, the owner of the above-mentioned Ola S1 Pro electric scooter, Dr Prithviraj was not satisfied with the performance and range of the electric scooter.
According to sources, Dr Prithiviraj received his Ola S1 Pro electric scooter 3 months ago. As per the claim by the owner of the Ola S1 Pro, he has been facing problems with the scooter from the beginning.
According to Dr Prithviraj's claim, he had complained about the issue multiple times to the Ola Support team. Though Ola Support did analyse the scooter, the team failed to identify any issues with the scooter.
However, on the day of the incident, the scooter stopped working after just 44kms. Following this incident, Dr Prithviraj got furious and set the scooter on fire by pouring petrol over it. Sources also indicate that the incident took place in Ambur, Tamilnadu.
Following a string of incidents involving electric scooters, Ola had previously issued a recall of more than 1,441 units of its Ola S1 Pro electric scooters in India. Earlier, an Ola electric scooter had spontaneously caught fire.
Following this incident, Ola also started its investigation to find out the underlying cause of the fire by focusing on the battery and heat management system of its scooters.
However, it was not only Ola Electric that had issued a recall of its electric scooters, Pure EV has also announced that the company has decided to recall 2,000 of its electric scooters after one of its electric scooters exploded while being charged.
According to sources, the result of this explosion that had resulted in the death of an 80-year old man.
Moreover, Okinawa Autotech has also stated that the company is recalling 3,215 units of its Praise Pro electric scooters to fix any underlying issues related to batteries and charging.
In the past few weeks alone, many incidents involving electric two-wheelers have been reported across the nation and these incidents involved electric scooters belonging to companies such as Okinawa, Ola Electric, Pure EV and Jitendra EV.
In wake of these incidents, Union Road Transport and Highways Minister, Mr Nitin Gadkari, expressed his anguish over these incidents and also warned about heavy penalties to those EV manufacturers involved in such incidents.

The Ola Electric scooter quickly gained the imagination of many consumers in India as the scooter offered unmatched 3 digit range figures at a price tag that is lower than its direct rival. In addition to that, the low pre-booking amount excited many consumers in India.
However, Ola soon started basking in the limelight for all the wrong reasons related to its build quality. However, we expect Ola Electric to quickly sort out these minor niggles.
