Kawasaki W175 Engine Specs, Chassis, Suspension, Wheels & Brakes

The Kawasaki W175 is powered by a single-cylinder 177cc engine. This fuel-injected, air-cooled engine produces 12.8bhp at 7,500rpm and 13.2Nm of peak torque at 6,000rpm. The Kawasaki W175's engine is paired with a 5-speed gearbox. The Kawasaki W175 weighs in at 135 kilogrammes.

The Kawasaki W175 is built around a tubular semi-double-cradle frame setup. This frame is suspended by a telescopic fork at the front and twin shock absorbers at the rear that helps the retro Kawasaki take care of the rough stuff. Kawasaki claims that the W175's suspension has been optimized for Indian roads.

The Kawasaki W175 rides on 17-inch spoked wheels at both the front and the rear. Braking duties on the retro W175 are handled by a single 270mm disc at the front that is gripped by two-piston callipers while the rear sports a drum brake (which is quite surprising considering the price tag). The brakes are aided by a single-channel ABS setup.

Kawasaki W175 Design & Features

The Kawasaki W175 is a retro motorcycle that borrows quite a few design cues from its larger sibling, the W800. The Kawasaki W175 sports a round headlamp at the front above which sits the rather simple semi-digital instrument cluster. The instrument cluster is flanked by six tell-tale lights that include lights for neutral, high beam, turn signals, ABS, engine and battery warnings.

The teardrop-shaped fuel tank sports a cutout with a checkered pattern along with the rather nice-looking W badge. The boxy side panel sports the Kawasaki nametag and the rear lighting setup is another set of circular lights that once again drive home the retro nature of the W175 from Kawasaki.

The Kawasaki W175 offers a relaxed upright riding position and its large single seat appears to be well padded and sits 790mm above the ground.

Thoughts About The Kawasaki W175

The Kawasaki W175 sees the Japanese marque once again step into the retro motorcycle segment with a somewhat affordable entry-level offering. While the W175 may have the looks to charm people into showrooms, the lack of a rear disc brake and dual-channel ABS at the price point seems like an error from Kawasaki.
