Honda CRF300L Spotted At A Dealership In India
A Honda CRF300L motorcycle has been spotted at a Honda dealership in India. This really raises the question about the new product Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is planning to launch on the 8th of August.
Earlier, a teaser regarding the upcoming Honda product has been doing rounds on the internet and through this teaser, Honda announced that "Formidable" is arriving in India.
Though there were many speculations regarding this teaser, many assumed that the teaser could be either the Honda CRF190L motorcycle or the Honda Forza 300 maxi-scooter.
While Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) has already patented the design of the Honda CRF190L motorcycle and the motorcycle when launched will compete against the high;y successful Hero Xpulse 200, the launch of the CRF190L makes more sense.
Speaking about the Honda CRF300L, the CRF model range in Honda's product portfolio refers to the two-wheeler manufacturer's motocross and dual-sport motorcycles. These motorcycles are designed from the ground up to tackle harsh terrains across the world.
As a result, the Honda CRF range of very popular among off-road enthusiasts and adventure seekers. Thanks to their immense popularity, these motorcycles also enjoy strong aftermarket support.
In terms of design, the Honda CRF300L is a very purposeful-looking machine yet it also comes with a charm of simplicity. The motocross-style body, tall stance, squared headlamps, high set exhaust, and a few more elements make the motorcycle look very desirable.
In terms of hardware, the Honda CRF300L gets long travel mono shock suspension at the rear, gold-coloured 43mm USD forks at the front, 21-inch and 18-inch spoked wheels, engine guard, 256mm front disc brake, 220mm rear disc brake, retractable metal foot pegs, knobby tyres and more.
In addition to that, the Honda CRF300L is powered by a 286cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine. This engine produces 27bhp of power and 26.6Nm of torque. Moreover, this engine has also been tuned to produce better low-end power and torque.
The Honda CRF300L also gets a 6-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch and the whole motorcycle weighs in at just 142Kg. This makes the motorcycle lighter than the Hero Xpulse 200. Also, the ground clearance of the Honda CRF300L motorcycle stands at a substantial 285mm.
If launched, the Honda CRF300L will be an exciting motorcycle and will rival the likes of KTM 390 Adventure, Yezdi Adventure and Royal Enfield Himalayan.
However, this could also be a marketing stint to promote Honda motorcycles and attract more customers to the showroom. Such exercises have been previously witnessed as well.
This brings us to another possibility, the Honda CRF190L, the design of this motorcycle has also been patented and the motorcycle seems to be in the right window for a launch as the Hero Xpulse 200 is enjoying the market without a direct competitor.
We expect the Honda CRF190L to be powered by the same engine that powers other Honda Motorcycles such as the Honda Hornet 2.0 and Honda CB200X. This power unit is a 184cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine with 17bhp of peak power and 16.1Nm of peak torque and comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
In terms of hardware, the Honda CRF190L also gets 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels and long travel suspension. As a result, the ground clearance stands at 241mm and the motorcycle weighs an easily manageable 145Kg.
Thoughts About Honda CRF300L
The Honda CRF300L looks very promising and it is the right time to launch an adventure motorcycle as the segment is appealing to a lot more audiences these days. However, the success of the Honda CRF300L will heavily depend on the pricing - Which Honda is infamous for.
