Electric Hero Splendor Homologated: 151Kms Range

Thanks to rising fuel prices, the demand for electric two-wheelers in the country is on the rise and more people are now considering replacing their conventionally-powered two-wheelers with electric two-wheelers.

So instead of replacing an entire two-wheeler, many startup companies have now cropped up in India that offer electric conversion kits. Thanks to these electric conversion kits, Indian consumers no longer need to replace their entire two-wheeler to go electric.

However, most of these electric conversion kits are not legal as they do not have proper approval from the concerned government authorities.

To keep up with the demand for electric vehicles and help more people adopt electric propulsion, Mumbai-based GoGo A1 Motors have now launched an RTO-approved electric conversion kit for Hero Splendor users.

Though the conversion kit was launched in September 2021, the ARAI approval for the conversion kit was received recently.

According to the certification issued by ARAI, the electric motor used in the conversion produces 5.28bhp (3.94kW) of max power and the max 30-minute power output is rated at 2.0kW. In addition to this, the Hero Splendor equipped with the GoGo A1 conversion can travel up to 151Kms on a single charge.

According to the approval certificate issued, the conversion kit will be only valid for 3 years from the date of issue and the conversion is subjected to any changes that may be added to CMV rules in future.

Thanks to this electric conversion kit, the converted motorcycles will now fall outside the scrappage policy introduced by the Government of India.

Since the launch of the conversion kit, GoGo A1 has witnessed increased demand for the conversion kit in the market and has expanded its operation to other states such as Kerala, Tamilnadu, Karnataka, West Bengal and Gujarat.

At present, the company has more than 50 franchises across major cities in India and these centres provide a comprehensive range of services which include installation and fitment, leasing of vehicles and battery swapping.

When launched, the total cost of the conversion kit including the battery pack was priced at Rs 95,000 and the kit costs Rs 35,000 without the battery pack.

Thoughts About GoGo A1 Electric Conversion Kit

The electric conversion kits are a great way to increase the number of electric vehicles and EV users in the country. Apart from that, electric conversion kits also reduce the amount of energy and raw materials required to add an electric vehicle to the road.

However, at Rs 95,000, the electric conversion kit is priced very steep for most Hero Splendor users in the country.
