Ather Energy Registers 800 Per Cent Growth In June 2022
Ather Energy has registered 800 per cent YoY in growth in June 2022 after the automaker sold more than 3,200 units of its electric scooter in India. Moreover, thanks to rising fuel prices, the popularity of EVs have once again gone up.
Moreover, since battery-powered electric vehicle technology has advanced over the years, electric vehicles have become a real alternative to conventionally-powered vehicles. As a result, more people are now considering buying an electric vehicle.
In June 2022, Ather Energy sold a total of 3,231 units of its electric scooters in India. While these numbers may seem low considering the market potential, the startup EV maker managed to sell just 359 units in June 2021.
Dissecting the numbers, this tremendous sales performance has resulted in an 800 per cent YoY sales increase. However, the company sold 3,787 units of its electric scooters in May 2022 which resulted in an almost 15 per cent decline in MoM sales.
Ather Energy | Sales | Jun 2022 Sales Vs | Difference | Growth % |
Jun-22 | 3,231 | Jun 2021 (YoY) | 2,872 | 800.00 |
Jun-21 | 359 | May 2022 (MoM) | -556 | -14.68 |
May-22 | 3,787 | - | - | - |
To further boost its sales, Ather Energy has partnered with the State Bank of India (SBI) for easy financing options. As a result, more potential customers can buy the Ather electric scooter without much hassle.
One of the reasons for Ather Energy to collaborate with SBI could be due to its vast network. Moreover, Ather Energy will be hosting an upcoming edition of TNPL.
Speaking about Ather Energy, the startup EV maker is currently working on a long-range version of the Ather 450X electric scooter and a few documents reveal that the EV maker is planning to introduce two variants with a bigger battery pack.
According to the leaked documents, the long-range version of the Ather 450 electric scooter features a larger 3.66kWh battery pack instead of the 2.9kWh battery pack carried by the outgoing model.
As mentioned, the new long-range version of the Ather electric scooter will be available in two variants and the lower variant is likely to have a few features disabled such as the Warp mode that gives the electric scooter additional performance.
Speaking about ride modes, the more premium variant of the upcoming version of the Ather electric scooter features 5 ride modes - Eco Mode, Smart Eco Mode, Ride Mode, Sport Mode and Warp Mode. This variant also comes with a claimed range of 146km per full charge.
On the other hand, the lower variant of the upcoming version of the Ather electric scooter features only 4 ride modes - Eco Mode, Smart Eco Mode, Ride Mode, and Sport Mode. Moreover, the claimed range of this variant is rated at 108km despite having an identical battery pack and electric motor.
Also, the leaked documents also reveal that the new battery pack is a Nickel-Cobalt-based Lithium-Ion unit that weighs 19kg and the electric scooter uses a 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor with 6.4kW of peak power.
The standard Ather 450 Plus is powered by a reasonably peppy 5.4kW electric motor with 22Nm of torque, and a 2.4kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. Whereas the more premium Ather 450X uses a more powerful 6kW electric motor with 26Nm of torque and also sports a bigger 2.9kWh Lithium-ion battery pack.
