Bangalore based Ultraviolette Automotive has released a new teaser for its F77 electric sports bike. The new teaser shows the electric Ultraviolette F77 undergoing performance testing at an airfield near the garden city. The Ultraviolette F77 is expected to enter production in the first quarter of 2022.
The new video shows the F77 being pushed to its limits as the Ultraviolette team monitor the progress with the help of a host of sensors fitted to the electric motorcycle's test mules. The testing procedures saw the electric motorcycle's acceleration, braking, handling and stability being evaluated on the airstrip.
The tests are a mix of qualitative (rider feedback on the bike while being ridden in different conditions) and quantitative. The latter compares the information received from the qualitative tests with tangible data captured by the sensors including pitch, roll, yaw, and stiffness among others.
The test mules of the Ultraviolette F77 were put through the wringer. The riders pushed them through slaloms, accelerated and braked hard and tested the wobble and weaving characteristics to simulate what the bikes will have to endure in the real world.
Backed by TVS Motors, Ultraviolette's F77 is a performance-oriented electric motorcycle. Powered by a 25kW motor connected to a 4.2Kwh pack of three lithium-ion batteries, the Ultraviolette F77 claims some rather potent figures for a bike of its size.
The powerplant for the F77 produces 33.5bhp at 2250rpm along with 450Nm of peak torque at the wheel. This, claims Ultraviolette is enough to push the electric F77 from 0-60km/h in just 2.9 seconds and hits 100km/h in 7.5 seconds. The electric motorcycle has a claimed top speed of 147km/h. The F77 weighs in at 158 kilogrammes.
The battery pack supports both regular and fast charging. Plugged into a regular wall socket, the F77 takes five hours to fully charge up. However, plug it into a fast CCS charger and the bike's battery's fill up to the brim in just one and a half hours.
To take care of the rough stuff, the Ultraviolette F77 is fitted with inverted cartridge-style front forks while the rear end features a gas-charged mono-shock with preload adjustability.
Braking is taken care of by a 320mm drilled disc up front with a four-piston fixed calliper while the rear features a 230mm drilled disc with a single-piston floating calliper. The F77 features a dual-channel anti-lock braking system (ABS). The bike sits on 17-inch rims which are clad with a 110/70 R17 tyre at the front while the rear tyre is a 150/60 R17 unit.
The F77 includes features a 9-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) for Ride Analytics with a built-in accelerometer, gyroscope and magnetometer along with GPS/GLONASS positioning for real-time speed and location discovery and geofencing.
Other features include customisable riding modes, variable regenerative braking, OTA along with safety features like a side stand sensor and fall & crash sensors among others.
