Looking for a Royal Enfield 650 Scrambler or a Royal Enfield 650 for off-roading? Here is one such motorcycle. EIMOR Customs has turned this Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 into an ADV/Scrambler and has fondly named it Laila. The aim was to use the capable platform and engine of the Interceptor 650 and turn it into an all-terrain conquering ADV.
The ADV segment is picking up pace like never before. Several motorcycle manufacturers have launched ADVs or dual-sport motorcycles in the Indian market to cater to this demand. The Himalayan is Royal Enfield's contender in the ADV-tourer segment. The Royal Enfield Himalayan is a great motorcycle, but simply isn't fast enough for some.
This is exactly where demand for an ADV based on Royal Enfield's 650 platform arises. There have been several rumours of RE working on a 650 ADV in the past. However, there seems to be no concrete evidence of Royal Enfield developing one. However, there are many who have decided not to wait for Royal Enfield to develop such a motorcycle.
Multiple Royal Enfield Interceptor 650s have been turned into off-roaders by various garages or custom houses across the country. This one though stands out. Called the Laila, it is one of the few tastefully modified Interceptor 650s in the country.
The folks at EIMOR Customs have worked their magic on the motorcycle especially in terms of design. The stock fuel tank has been retained and so has the stock frame, engine and electronics. Everything else though, has been changed.
The frame has been painted Red, and the stock side panels have been replaced by a custom shield with a brushed aluminium finish. In front of the engine is a custom-made crash-guard. The bottom-half of the engine has been painted Black while the stock exhaust system has been replaced.
The motorcycle is equipped with a TEC Stinger two-into-one exhaust system that not only increases performance but is also claimed to have reduced weight by upto 14 kilograms. The front-end of the motorcycle has been changed completely. EIMOR Customs has retrofitted the telescopic fork from the Royal Enfield Himalayan.
The internals of the fork have been replaced by uprated components from YSS. Several modifications have been made to the rear to enable the fitment of a YSS monoshock.The engine and electronics on the motorcycle have been left untouched.
Thoughts On Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 Being Modified Into A Scrambler/ADV Tourer
The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 is one of the best motorcycles for its price. It is an extremely capable platform and the engine is very capable as well. It can't be confirmed if Royal Enfield is working on a 650 ADV, but modification houses and garages certainly are doing their best with the RE 650. One thing's certain - there is a market for a 650 ADV.
