Royal Enfield Partners With CEAT For Interceptor 650 Tyres: Here Are All Details

Royal Enfield has announced its partnership with CEAT tyres in the Indian market. The two-wheeler manufacturer will now equip the Interceptor 650 motorcycle with CEAT tyres. The retro-modern motorcycle will be shod with CEAT Zoom Cruz F tyres.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 was offered with Pirelli Phantom SportsComp tyres. Pirelli designed the tyres specifically for the Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650. However, the brand has decided to change the tyre manufacturer. Royal Enfield is yet to make an official statement about the recent changes announced.

The tyre size of the Interceptor remains the same. The front wheel is shod with 100/90-18 and the rear wheel is shod with 130/70-18. The partnership between both brands also marks CEAT's entry into the 650cc middle-weight performance segment for two-wheelers.

Commenting on this association Amit Tolani, Chief Marketing Officer, CEAT Tyres, said, "We have a strong relationship with Royal Enfield as bikes like Bullet Classic and Himalayan are already using our products. The fact that Royal Enfield chose CEAT over a globally acclaimed tyre brand for the Interceptor, is a testimony of the quality of our products and strength of this partnership. This launch also marks our entry into Premium Cruiser 650+ cc and reiterates our commitment to being the preferred choice for OEM's in India."

Although the company is yet to confirm, the Continental GT 650 is also expected to same tyre treatment from the brand. The changes made to the tyre brand are expected to be restricted to the Indian market. The motorcycle sold in the international market will likely continue with the Pirelli Phantom SportsComp tyres.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 are powered by the same 649cc air and oil-cooled, parallel-twin-cylinder engine. It produces peak power of 47bhp at 7,250rpm and a peak torque of 52Nm at 5,250rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox, with slipper-clutch assisted.

In related news, both the Interceptor 650 and the Continental GT 650 have received a price hike from the company. The price of the Interceptor 650 has increased between Rs 2,989 to Rs 3,220. While the top-spec Continental GT650 has received a hike between Rs 3,166 to Rs 3,378.

After the price increase, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 retails between Rs 2.69 lakh and 2.91 lakh. On the other hand, the Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 retails between Rs 2.85 lakh and 3.06 lakh. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (Delhi).
