Revolt Intellicorp backed by RattanIndia is looking to discontinue the RV300 electric motorcycle. They will replace it with a new RV1 model, which is expected to be the brand's most affordable electric motorcycle.
Anjali Rattan, promoter of Rattan India Enterprises Ltd, said, "We will be phasing out RV 300 model eventually. In its place, we will be introducing a new model, RV1, at a lower price, which would be a new model altogether."
The new RV1 model will be a 100 per cent locally-built model from the company at its manufacturing plant in Manesar, Haryana. Though the company has been importing parts from China to build its products, it is now trying to focus on switching to Indian supplies completely.
The company also announced that Dominos Pizza will take the entire inventory of Revolt 300 electric bikes and convert its entire existing petrol-powered vehicles. "By December this year, our product will become completely make-in-India. We have been importing parts from China but we are now focusing on every single supply from India. The manufacturing of the new bike will start from January."
Speaking about the motorcycle itself, the RV300 is the brand's entry-level model that misses out on several features such as connectivity and more. It is powered by a 2.7kWh lithium-ion battery pack, mated to a 1.5kW electric motor. The RV300 electric bike features a top speed of 65km/h, with a maximum range of 180km on a single charge.
The Revolt RV300 and the RV400 are the first electric motorcycles to be launched in the country. These motorcycles are currently available only in select cities across the country. This includes Delhi, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Hyderabad & Mumbai.
However, the demand for the RV400 superseded as compared to the RV300. As a result, the company is looking to discontinue and replace it with a more affordable product. Because the upcoming RV1 will be localized to 100%, it is expected to feature a price tag starting at around Rs 75,000.
The company recently opened booking for the RV400 motorcycle and closed it within 2 hours after registering a whopping sales of over Rs 50 crores. The company also dropped the price of the RV 400 due to the FAME II incentive increase announced by the Indian Government — here are all the details.
The company also stated that the e-two wheelers market is expected to be around Rs 50,000 crore by 2025 with annual sales of 50 lakh units. Anjali further added, "The company is aiming to produce five lakh bikes per annum in the next five years. EVs also offer a large market for exports to EV OEMs and there is a huge opportunity for EV exports originating out of India. EV two-wheeler leaders from India have the potential to capture significant exports as well."
Thoughts About The Revolt RV300 To Be Replaced By RV1 Electric Motorcycle
Revolt is one of the early adopters of the two-wheeler EV market in India. The company is working on expanding sales across the country to reach more customers. According to the latest report, they are also looking to make their entry-level offering more affordable by phasing out the RV300 and launching a replacement called RV1, which will be built locally.
