Ola Electric has launched the much-awaited S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters in India. The Ola S1 electric scooter is priced at Rs 99,999, while the Ola S1 Pro is priced at Rs 1.29 lakh, ex-showroom, before State subsidies.

Both scooters feature the same electric motor with a belt-driven final drive mechanism. However, the difference lies in the battery pack where the S1 features a lower-spec Li-ion unit that provides a maximum claimed riding range of 121km (ARAI tested). While the S1 Pro's battery pack provides a maximum range of 181km (ARAI tested).
As the battery pack differs, the normal charging times are also different with lesser time on the S1 because of the lower capacity. They also feature Battery Management System (BMS) which works actively to monitor the battery for optimal durability, performance, range and safety.

Ola S1 Pro is the fastest electric scooter in India with a top speed of 115kmph. While the S1 is relatively faster than the other electric scooters that are currently on sale in India. Mostly the top speed is limited by the missing Hyper ride mode on the S1. Both scooters are also quick of the line with impressive 0 to 40kmph acceleration times as well.

This shows that both S1 and the S1 Pro are built identically. However, due to the heavier battery pack, the S1 Pro weighs 4kg more than the S1. The company has managed to offer the largest under-seat storage for an electric scooter at 36-litres, which according to OLA can store two helmets.

The S1 and S1 Pro nearly features everything that the company has to offer. However, for the extra money on the S1 Pro apart from the higher range and top-speed, the scooter also gets a voice assistant, Hill hold control and cruise control.
This instrument cluster is powered by an octa-core processor with 3GB RAM and feature the brand's MoveOS for seamless experience and packs in WiFi, Bluetooth and 4G connectivity for smart features.
Both scooters also get keyless proximity entry, which is enabled via 4 user profiles that the company offers. Each profile can have its own settings, which the scooter adjusts once it is started. The proximity lock or unlock is enabled via the brand smartphone application.
S1 and S1 Pro feature an onboard speaker and a mic to help interact with the scooter via AI-assisted voice assistance. Additionally, the scooters feature an anti-theft alert system, geo-fencing, and a battery that is flame-retardant and water & dust resistant. The company is also offering a brake pad wear sensor for predictive maintenance of brakes.

Ola has given both electric scooters the same design. However, they can be visually told apart by the variant badging on the rear of the scooter above the taillamp.
The scooter features a simple-looking front apron with the OLA badge in the middle. The only other distinctive feature on the front of the scooter is the headlamps cluster that features twin-pod LED setup surrounded by LED DRLs. Ola S1 is offered in 10 colour options from the company.

As mentioned earlier, the pricing for the scooter starts at Rs 99,999, ex-showroom without subsidies. The company is also offering attractive finance schemes with EMIs starting at Rs 2,999 and have tied up with most banks in the country.
Customers who have reserved the scooter can purchase the scooter starting from September 8, 2021. The deliveries are said to begin in October and Ola aims to start delivering across 1000 cities.

Thoughts About The Ola S1 Vs S1 Pro
The Rs 30,000 price difference between Ola S1 and S1 Pro is justified as the latter comes with a lot more features and performance. The S1 Pro features the highest top speed for an electric scooter in India and a range of 60 kilometres more than the S1. Additionally, it also features more colours and a lot more tech including cruiser control.
