Nexzu Mobility To Ramp Up Localisation Efforts — Seeks Suppliers
Indian electric two-wheeler startup Nexzu Mobility has announced plans to ramp up its localisation efforts. The company is looking for suppliers for various components required for its electric vehicles.
Nexzu Mobility has stated that it will focus on developing 100% ‘Made in India' EV mobility with its manufacturing units based in Pune. The company will seek suppliers based in the country who can produce and supply export quality products at competitive prices and short lead times. Additionally, the brand will be planning supply base localisation in India by collaborating with partner suppliers for various components required for electric cycles, and electric scooters. The company will prioritise parts like Lithium-Ion Battery packs, Battery Management Systems (BMS), BLDC Hub Motors, Motor Controllers, & LED Displays for its electric vehicles.
Speaking about his company's latest plans, Umakant M. Shivankar, Chief Operating Officer, Nexzu Mobility said, "The need for creating a strong foundation for convenient, sustainable mobility is apparent in the country. Nexzu Mobility has maintained a sharp focus on building the ultimate urban mobility solutions for customers. In line with this, we have decided to step up our localisation efforts through a number of actions. These will ensure we create a robust supply chain locally and allow us to achieve our goal as well as spur the industry forward. "
Nexzu Mobility has been expanding its dealership network across the country opening new dealerships in places like Madurai in Tamil Nadu, Gurugram in Haryana, Vijayapura in Karnataka, Ahmedabad in Gujarat, Ballabgarh in Haryana, Medchal Malkajgiri in Telangana, and Chhattisgarh.
The company recently launched the Roadlark electric cycle. The Roadlark features two battery packs. The first battery pack is integrated into the frame of the bike and has a capacity of 5.2Ah. The second battery pack for the Roadlark is a detachable unit that has a capacity of 8.7Ah. The two battery packs combine to give the Nexzu Roadlark a total range of 100 kilometres (which goes down to just 75 kilometres when the rider does not use the pedal to assist the motor) on a single charge.
Providing electric propulsion power to the Nexzu Roadlark is a 250W 36V brushless DC motor that is placed on the hub of the rear wheel. The Nexzu Roadlark also features disc brakes for both the front and rear wheels to bring it to a stop. The battery packs are rated for 750 charge cycles and take three to five hours to fully charge up.
The Nexzu Roadlark is available in both passenger and commercial guises. The commercial version is known as the Roadlark Cargo which has a top speed of 25km/h and can carry a total payload of 130 kilograms (inclusive of the rider's weight).
Nexzu also sells the Rompus and Rompus+ electric bicycles. Both the Rompus and Rompus+ bikes are powered by a 5.2Ah battery pack and have a maximum range of 25 kilometres and 32 kilometres respectively. The company also sells the Dextro and Dextro+ scooters in India.
