Royal Enfield has experienced unprecedented success in India, but this was not the case with the brand a couple of decades ago. Royal Enfield was on the verge of being shut completely, before merging with the Eicher group in 1994.

Even the merger with the Eicher group proved to have little or no immediate effect on the sales of Royal Enfield motorcycles, thus resulting in ceasing operations of their Jaipur factory in 2002. The Royal Enfield you see now is the result of sheer passion and determination of one Man Siddhartha Lal, his bold decisions coupled with strong marketing campaigns breathed new life into the brand.

Siddhartha being a passionate biker himself, understood the essence of Royal Enfield and developed bikes that echoed its strengths at the same time overcoming its weaknesses. By 2013, the demand for Royal Enfield's motorcycles was so high that they had to open a new plant in Chennai to meet the increased demand. At one point in time, the wait for a new Royal Enfield motorcycle was as high as 18 months.

Fast forward to 2018, Royal Enfield dominates the mid-size (350CC-750CC) motorcycle market with a 90% market share in India. Upcoming competition in the market created a need for a new generation of Royal Enfield bikes that reeked of old-world charm but with features of a modern motorcycle.

Since the upgrade to BS6 engines as mandated by the government of India, Royal Enfield has been on a spree of updates and new launches. Royal Enfield developed a brand-new engine for use on its new motorcycles and this engine debuted in the Meteor 350. The same engine is expected to debut in the upcoming Royal Enfield Classic 350. It will also get a new chassis.

The biggest criticism that the current-gen Royal Enfield Classic carries is the lack of decent instrumentation. It even lacks the bare basics like a fuel gauge and a trip meter. The Royal Enfield Classic 350 is getting a major upgrade soon. Multiple spy shots of the motorcycle being tested have surfaced on the internet.

Now, a new spy video gives us a peek into the instrument cluster of the upcoming motorcycle. It is a combination of an analogue speedometer with a separate digital display for the two trip meters, an odometer, a fuel gauge and a clock. In the video, one can also spot a bright display to the right side of the speedometer, which we think is the Tripper navigation module.
