The new Royal Enfield Himalayan has been spotted testing ahead of its launch in the Indian market. The 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan will be equipped with the brand's latest Tripper navigation system.
Spy images from Gaadiwaadi, reveals the additional pod placed next to the instrument cluster. The additional pod will be reserved for the Tripper navigation system which will continue to be a separate unit.
It is expected to be the same system as featured on the Meteor 350 cruiser motorcycle. The secondary-pod of the instrument cluster will feature a tiny TFT colour display. Royal Enfield has partnered with Google to introduce this particular feature.
The Tripper navigation can be activated by pairing a smartphone to the Royal Enfield application available for both Android or iOS users. Once paired, enter the destination and voila, the display starts to show turn-by-turn navigation.
Apart from the Tripper Navigation, the updated adventure motorcycle is expected to remain the same in terms of design and hardware. This includes the large 15-litre fuel tank, raised single-piece handlebar, well-cushioned split-seats, and more.
Other features include a switchable-ABS system on the rear-wheel, an up-swept exhaust for better water wading ability, a rear luggage rack, hazard switch, a digital compass and a tall non-adjustable windscreen.
The engine on the 2021 adventure motorcycle will remain unchanged. The Himalayan is powered by a single-cylinder SOHC, air/oil-cooled, fuel-injected 411cc engine. It produces a maximum of 24.3bhp at 6500rpm and a peak torque of 32Nm between 4000rpm and 4500rpm.
Suspension duties are handled by 41mm telescopic forks with 200mm travel at the front and a mono-shock setup with 180mm travel at the rear. Braking is done via a 300mm disc brake at the front and a 240mm disc brake at the rear. The motorcycle features 21-inch spoke wheel at the front and a 19-inch wheel at the rear to support off-roading.
The Royal Enfield Himalayan is offered in six colour options: Granite black, Snow white, Sleet grey, Gravel grey, Lake blue, and Rock red. The motorcycle retails at a starting price of Rs 2.25 lakh for the Granite black colour. While the dual-tone colour options are priced at Rs 2.30 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
