EICMA 2021: MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5 & 5.5 Unveiled

Italian motorcycle manufacturer MV Agusta has revealed the Lucky Explorer 9.5 & 5.5 adventure motorcycles at EICMA 2021. The Lucky Explorer 9.5 & 5.5 are the first adventure motorcycles from MV Agusta.

The MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5 is the larger of the two adventure motorcycles from MV Agusta. The Lucky Explorer 9.5 is powered by an all-new 930.63cc triple cylinder engine.

The new engine is derived from the manufacturer's current 798cc triple cylinder engine. To achieve the new displacement, MV Agusta has increased the motor's bore and stroke and it now produces 121bhp at 10,000rpm and 101.6Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm. The high revving engine will be offered with either a manual gearbox or a Rekluse automatic clutch and a semi-automatic, electronically actuated transmission.

The MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 9.5 sports a forged steel frame and a double-sided aluminium swingarm. The bike also sports long travel semi-active Sachs suspension (220mm front and 210 rear travel) and a 21-inch front and an 18-inch rear spoked wheels fitted with knobby off-road tyres. The bike weighs in at 220 kilogrammes (dry), and the fuel tank can hold 20-litres of petrol.

The smaller Lucky Explorer 5.5 has been developed with the help of the Chinese brand Qianjiang Motorcycle (better known as QJ Motor). The Lucky Explorer 5.5 borrows a lot of parts from the QJ Motor SRT 500 and the Benelli TRK 502 (both MV Agusta and Benelli are owned by QJ Motor.

The MV Agusta 5.5 is powered by a 550cc liquid cooled parallel twin engine which produces 46.9bhp at 7,500rpm and 51Nm of peak torque at 5,500rpm. The MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 5.5's engine is basically a larger derivative of the Benelli TRK 502's engine.

The MV Agusta Lucky Explorer 5.5 also sports the same frame as the Benelli TRK 502. The bike sports upside down forks up front and a mono shock and an alloy swingarm at the rear. The Lucky Explorer 5.5 sits on 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels shod with more road focused tyres.

The 5.5 ADV uses twin disc brakes up front and a single disc at the rear. The bike has a 20-litre fuel tank and a dry weight of 220 kilogrammes. The new adventure bike has a ground clearance of 210mm.

Both the Lucky Explorer 9.5 and 5.5 sport disc brake covers for the front discs along with similar design along with hand guards and bash plates.
