Mantra Racing Builds The Quickest & Fastest Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 In India

After a few runs up and down the runway, the data logger captured sufficient data to arrive at a conclusive result - the quickest and fastest Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 in India.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 accelerated from 0-100km/h in 5.53 seconds, covered the quarter mile in 13.91 seconds and touched a top speed of 174km/h (GPS data). Mantra Racing has developed several performance parts for the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650. The parts are bolt-on and sold in packages.

Mantra Racing currently offers the following four packages (with a fifth package in the works):

• Stage I Street
• Stage I Street Plus
• Stage II Sport
• Stage II Sport Plus



Stage I Street

This is the base performance package for the Royal Enfield 650 twins consisting of a Tuned By Mantra (TBM) performance air filter, de-restrictor plate, and an ECU loaded with a tune to match the increased air flow. Motorcycles with the Stage I Street package will make use of the stock exhaust system and engine speed remains stock at 7,400rpm.

In this tune, the motorcycle puts out 45.59bhp and 56.8Nm which is 0.4bhp and 0.1Nm higher than the stock motorcycle, using a peak reference. However, the engine produces 2.2bhp and 3.2Nm over standard, between 4,000 to 6,000rpm. It does 0-100km/h in 6.39 seconds which is 0.3 seconds quicker than the stock motorcycle and the quarter mile in 14.85 seconds, which is 0.26 seconds quicker than the stock bike. Stage I Street is priced at Rs. 18,000(inclusive of GST).

Stage I Street Plus

This performance package is slightly more advanced when compared to Stage I Street. It comes with a TBM performance air filter, de-restrictor plate, twin slip-on AEW T-102 exhaust system, and an ECU with an ideal tune to extract maximum power from these performance parts. The rev-limit is still at 7,400rpm, as found on the stock motorcycle.

In this tune, the motorcycle puts out 46.39bhp and 59Nm which is 1.2bhp and 2.3Nm higher than the stock motorcycle. It does 0-100km/h in 6.13 seconds which is 0.56 seconds quicker than the stock motorcycle and the quarter mile in 14.66 seconds, which is 0.45 seconds quicker than the stock bike. Stage I Street Plus is priced at Rs. 44,000(inclusive of GST).



Stage II Sport

The Stage II Sport package is the real-deal, at least for now. It brings with it the TBM performance air filter, a de-restrictor plate, and a special 2-into-1 exhaust system. The Royal Enfield 650 twins in their stock form come with a twin exhaust system which looks great. However, it seems like they aren't the best when it comes to extracting power from the engine.



Adding to this is the fact that just the two end-cans of the stock exhaust weigh upwards of 7 kilograms each. In order to reduce the weight, it was obvious that something had to be done. Mantra Racing found its solution in a 2-into-1 full exhaust system. The carefully engineered, good-looking and sounding exhaust system reduces the weight of the motorcycle by over 9 kilograms!



This stage too gets an ECU loaded with the perfect tune, keeping in mind the various performance parts installed on the bike. Engine rev-limit has been increased by 200rpm and the limiter now kicks in at 7,600rpm. All of this, when combined, completely changes the feel of the motorcycle and it makes for a brilliant ride.



Mantra Racing's Stage II Sport Dyno Chart

In this tune, the motorcycle puts out 50.42bhp and 60.2Nm which is 5.23bhp and 3.5Nm higher than the stock motorcycle. It does 0-100km/h in 5.53 seconds which is 1.16 seconds quicker than the stock motorcycle and the quarter mile in 13.91 seconds, making it 1.18 seconds quicker than the stock bike. Stage II Sport is priced at Rs. 85,000 (inclusive of GST).

Stage II Sport PlusThis stage, we believe will free more power and torque while making the motorcycle sound more aggressive. Stage II Sport Plus comes with all the parts seen with the Stage II Sport. A high-lift camshaft is the sole addition to the package, and this one part, we believe, can make a world of difference. The ECU too will carry changes as it will be mapped keeping in mind the addition of the high-lift camshaft.



We have not ridden this stage of tune yet, but cannot wait to get our hands on it. There is one more stage that is currently under development and is certainly one to watch out for. We are talking about the Stage III Race.



Stage III Race

This stage aims to turn the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 into a Land Speed Record breaker. It comes with a TBM performance air filter, de-restrictor plate, 2-into-1 exhaust, high-light camshaft, and a 865cc big bore kit from American engine and parts manufacturer, S&S Cycles. This results in an increase of around 217cc and we cannot wait to see how much more power this stage produces.



The ECU that comes with this package will be tuned to get the best out of these performance parts and the rev-limit will be set to 7,600rpm. This stage is currently under development and is expected to be launched soon.
