Kawasaki E-boost Name Trademarked For Its Electric/Hybrid Motorcycles
Kawasaki has recently trademarked the name E-boost. The move from Kawasaki hints at a potential upcoming fully electric motorcycle or hybrid motorcycle. That being said, Kawasaki will become the first major Japanese motorcycle manufacturer to offer a complete electric motorcycle if the same pace is kept up in further development of the electric bike.
We aren't exactly sure of Kawasaki's intentions or plans regarding the 'E-boost' name tag, there is also a high chance that Kawasaki may debut a completely new range of EVs under this name tag. Further strengthening this belief is that Kawasaki already debuted an EV prototype back in 2019 itself.
The Kawasaki EV prototype in question debuted at the 2019 EICMA international motorcycle show. Unlike other electric bikes, Kawasaki's EV prototype came with a 4-speed manual gearbox.
However, we strongly suspect that Kawasaki might even roll out hybrid motorcycles under the trademarked E-boost name tag. Kawasaki recently released a teaser video showing a rider switching to complete EV mode as he enters the city.
While Kawasaki is being tight-lipped regarding the specifications of the upcoming EV/hybrid motorcycle or motorcycles, there are numerous sources that claim that the upcoming Kawasaki 'E-boost' may even be focussed towards city commute rather than being performance-oriented and the electric motor in question rated at 26bhp.
Thoughts On Kawasaki E-boost Being Trademarked
If the rumours regarding the powertrain of Kawasaki E-boost is true, then Kawasaki might be developing a city-friendly motorcycle that is far more affordable and user friendly than other high-end EV offerings from Harley-Davidson and Zero motorcycles. However, the E-boost range might consist of more than one motorcycle. We expect more details to come out in the next few weeks.
