2020 Indian National Drag Racing Championship Results: Hemanth Muddappa Wins For The Fourth Time
2020 MMSC FMSCI Indian National Motorcycle Drag Championship recently concluded. Hemanth Mudappa from Bangalore wins for the fourth consecutive time in the National Drag Racing championship.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, most motorsports events and seasons were either delayed, shortened or cancelled altogether. However, the 2020 season of the Indian National Motorcycle Drag Championship concluded recently with the second and final round of racing ending held on January 24, 2021, at (MMRT) the Madras Motor Race Track, Chennai.
In the top above 1051cc category, Hemanth Muddappa took the championship victory astride the BMW S1000RR by clocking 7.879seconds to cover 302-metres. Finishing in second place in the same category is Baba Satagopan who clocked 08.263seconds. The third and the final podium place was won by Hafizullah Khan who clocked 08.362seconds.
The winning bike of the above 1051cc category, the BMW S1000RR was tuned by Sharan Pratap of Mantra Racing from Bangalore. After winning the championship, Hemanth Muddappa celebrated his fourth consecutive national championship victory with a specially made t-shirt.
In the 850 to 1050cc class, Hemanth Muddappa took his second gold for the day stride a Suzuki Hayabusa by clocking 8.071seconds. Zubair Ali Jung finished second in the category by clocking 8.202seconds. Baba Satagopan finished a close third with a run time of 8.306seconds. All three podium places in the 850 to 1050cc category were won by racers from Bangalore.
The feature event of Indian National Motorcycle Drag Championship, the Unrestricted Foreign Open was not a part of this year's racing season. Hemanth had won in the Unrestricted Foreign Open category in the year 2017, 2018 and 2019.
