Honda CRF300L India Launch On The Cards? Dual-Purpose Motorcycle Patent Filed!

Honda Motorcycles & Scooter India have filed the patent for CRF300L in the country. The Honda CRF300L is a dual-purpose dirt bike that is currently sold in various international markets. With the motorcycle patented, it is likely to arrive at India shores as well.

The company currently retails 2 motorcycles models for ADV enthusiasts in India. This includes the Honda CB500X and the mighty Honda Africa Twin. However, both motorcycles do not fall under the affordable category. Honda might look to change this by launching the CRF300L in India.

The Honda CRF300L features a bare-bones design with a focus on keeping the motorcycle as light as possible. Being a dirt worthy motorcycle, the Honda CRF300L features a simple headlamp cowl, single-piece seat, a single-piece handlebar, raised front fender, up-swept and an under-seat exhaust; among others.

The Honda CRF300L is a successor to the CRF250L with a bigger capacity engine. The CRF300L is powered by a Euro 5/BS6 compliant liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, fuel-injected 286cc DOHC engine. It produces a maximum of 26bhp and a peak torque of 26.6Nm; mated to a six-speed gearbox as standard.

Due to its off-road biased setup, the motorcycle features a ground clearance of 285mm and a rider seat height of 880mm. The Honda CRF300L come with a narrow 7.8-litre fuel tank and tips the scale at 140kg (Kerb).

Suspension duties on the motorcycle are handled via a 43mm USD fork at the front with a 234mm travel and a mono-shock unit with 260mm travel at the rear. Both suspension units are non-adjustable.

Braking on the dirt bike is done via a 256mm disc brake at the front and a 220mm disc brake at the rear; supported by a dual-channel ABS. The CRF300L is equipped with a 21-inch spoke wheel shod with a 100/80 section tyre at the front, and an 18-inch wheel shod with a 120/80 section tyre at the rear.

Thoughts About The Honda CRF300L Dual-Purpose Motorcycle India Launch On Cards

The Honda CRF300L is focused more on off-road use. There is very few features or compatibility for on-road use of the motorcycle. As patents go, not all products registered will be launched by brands.

As the CRF300L focuses very little on anything else than off-road, whether it is a motorcycle preferred by ADV enthusiast in the country remains to be seen. For now, we wait for an official word from the company on the CRF300L for the Indian market.
