Honda CB200X First Look Review: Honda’s Entry Into The ADV-Touring Segment Seems Brilliant

Design & Style

At first glance, it is easy to see that the CB200X looks like it has taken its design inspiration from its bigger sibling — The CB500X. However, it is based on the Hornet 2.0. The motorcycle continues to use the diamond-type frame, which gives the ADV-tourer a stable ride on straight roads and in corners as well.

The motorcycle comes with an LED headlamp at the front and it is pretty bright. All other lights on the Honda CB200X are also LED units. The motorcycle is equipped with a tall windscreen to protect the rider from the windblast. The motorcycle also gets Upside Down(USD) front forks that add precision steering and excellent cushioning and looks sporty at the same time as it is finished in a shade of Gold.

Features

The Fully digital, negative LCD instrumentation looks cool and comes with features like a gear position indicator, digital clock, service due indicator and battery voltmeter. The LCD has clear readouts but it might be a little difficult to read with the sun shining bright. Also, the Ignition keyhole unit is placed on the tank for a more ergonomic design.

The motorcycle gets knuckle guards with integrated LED blinkers for an imposing stance. Along with that, it gets raised handlebars that add ruggedness to the motorcycle. The inspiration from high-end machines is quite obvious. The CB200X also features an upswept exhaust for a striking appeal and rugged character.

Engine Specifications:

All of this results in an upright riding position that minimizes any kind of fatigue on longer rides. Powering the Honda CB200X is an air-cooled, 184cc, single-cylinder, engine. This motor produces a maximum power output of 17bhp @ 8,500rpm and a peak torque output of around 16.1Nm @ 6,000rpm. The motor is mated to a 5-speed gearbox.

The safety features section is made up of just the dual-channel ABS. The motorcycle also features a split seat with the rider sitting at a height of 810mm, which is pretty tall. Short riders will have to tip-toe in stop and go traffic. We haven't ridden the motorcycle, but we will be doing a proper road test review really soon. Till then stay tuned.

By launching the CB200X in the Indian market, Honda has brought in its entry-level adventure-tourer and it looks pretty cool. At just Rs 1.44 lakh, it makes Honda's ADV motorcycles more accessible. The Honda CB200X will compete with the Hero Xpulse 200 and the Xpulse 200T to an extent.
