Ducati Streetfighter V2 & Streetfighter V4 SP Unveiled

Italian sports bike manufacturer Ducati has unveiled the Streetfighter V2 and Streetfighter V4 SP. While the V2 is basically a Panigale V2 with its fairing stripped off, the V4 SP has given the same treatment to the Panigale V4 S.

The Ducati Streetfighter V4 SP is what Ducati calls "the most adrenaline-pumping naked to ever roll its wheels off the production line in Borgo Panigale." The statement in itself should tell you just how serious this bike is as the Italian brand is not known for mincing words.

The Streetfighter V4 SP is powered by Ducati's 1,103 cc Desmosedici Stradale V4 engine that produces 208bhp and 123Nm of peak torque. The naked streetfighter sends its power to the rear wheel via a 6-speed manual gearbox with a quick shifter for both up and downshifts.

Compared to the Panigale V4 S, the new Streetfighter V4 is 3 kilogrammes lighter at just 196 kg. These weight savings are partly due to the lack of fairing and partly because of the new 5 split-spoke wheels which are made from carbon fibre instead of the usual cast aluminium.

The Streetfighter V4 SP sports what Ducati calls the 'Winter Test' livery which takes its inspiration from the liveries on the Italian marque's Moto GP and World Superbike Championship pre-season test racers. The Ducati V4 SP will be made available to customers in January 2022 and will be available only in the 'Winter Test' livery - black, red and carbon fibre.

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 cuts off the fairing from the Panigale V2 to create a sport naked bike with a rather sharp design. The bike features V shaped daytime running lights, a feature it shares with the larger V4 which Ducati claims is inspired by the maniacal grin of Batman's most insane baddie, the Joker.

The Streetfighter V2 is powered by Ducati's 955cc Superquadro V-twin engine that produces 153bhp at 10,750rpm and peak torque of 101.4 Nm at 9,000rpm. The engine is paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox with a shorter final ratio compared to the one found on the Panigale V2, which Ducati states "guarantees greater torque to the wheel at road speeds while giving better engine responsiveness when re-opening the throttle."

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 is equipped with 5-spoke wheels and the new Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tyres — 120/70 ZR17 at the front and 180/60 ZR17 at the rear. The Streetfighter V2 also sports a 43 mm Showa BPF front fork and an adjustable Sachs mono shock absorber at the rear. Braking duties are handled by Brembo M4-32 monobloc radial callipers with 320 mm diameter discs.

The Streetfighter V2 comes packed with a host of safety features including ABS Cornering EVO with slide by brake, Ducati Traction Control (DTC) EVO 2, Ducati Wheelie Control (DWC) EVO, Ducati Quick Shift up/down (DQS) EVO 2, and Engine Brake Control (EBC) EVO.

The all-new Ducati Streetfighter V2 will arrive in showrooms next month in the signature Ducati Red colour with black alloy wheels. Prices for the V2 have not been revealed.

Thoughts On The Ducati Streetfighter V2 & V4 SP

The Ducati Streetfighter V2 and V4 SP are a set of super naked bikes with big attitudes and the power to match it. Stripping off the fairings of what are already crazy superbikes has created a duo of two rather demonic naked streetfighters that will make the hearts of Ducati fans worldwide beat a little faster.
