Dakar Rally 2021 Stage 4 Results & Highlights: Ashish Raorane Finishes Well & Improves General Rankings
Stage 4 of the 2021 Dakar Rally conclude with a mix reaction for the rally fans in India. Today's stage was won by Joan Barreda Bort riding for Monster Energy Honda Rally team. Finishing in second place of the stage is Daniel Sanders (KTM Factory Team). Luciano Benavides (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) has finished in 3rd to complete podium places of Stage 4 of the rally.
The 2021 Dakar Rally Stage 4 was held between Wadi Ad-Dawasir and Riyadh. The stage covered a total distance of 813 kilometres. Out of which only 337 kilometres was the Special competitive stage. Rest of the distance were Liaison, making it one of the longest stages in the rally race event.
Speaking about the competitive special stage, according to the riders, it was among the fastest so far in the rally race. The Special stage started with hard soil terrain. However, the terrain soon changed to sand mid-way. Due to the hard surface, riders could hold the pace of the motorcycle during the competitive stage today.
Ashish Raorane making his debut in the 2021 Dakar Rally has a brilliant outing in Stage 4 of the race. The privateer participating in the Original by Motul category formerly known as Malle Moto has finished the fourth stage of the rally in 75th position, overall. It has helped Ashish to improve his General Standing by 4 places and is now placed in 80th position overall.
Sherco Factory Rally Team rider Harith Noah had a bit of an off-day in Stage 4 of the rally race. The Indian rider has managed to complete the stage in 68th position overall. As a result, Harith Noah is now placed 36th overall in the General standings. Riding alongside Harith Noah in the same team, Lorenzo Santolino and Rui Goncalves finish Stage 4 of the Dakar Rally in 12th and 42nd position, respectively.
The Hero MotoSport team is struck with bad luck as the Indian Ace rally rider, CS Santosh suffers a fall at today's stage, which takes him out of the race contention — here are more details.
Other riders from the Indian motorsports team Joaquim Rodrigues and Sebastian Buhler also riding have finished the fourth stage well. Joaquim finishes in impressive 6th place ahead of his teammate Sebastian, who maintains his steady perfromance and completed Stage 4 in 25th position.
With Stage 4 coming to an end Toby Price and Joan Barreda Bort have won 2 stages each. However, Both the riders are unable to win a stage by leading from the front due to navigational challenges.
After Stage 4, the 2021 Dakar Rally is currently being led by Xavier De Soultrait riding for HT Rally Raid Husqvarna Racing. He now leads the pack by over 15 seconds overall in General standings.
Today's stage winner Joan Barreda Bort is currently holding the second position in the General standings. While the third position is held by Ross Branch riding for Monster Energy Yamaha Rally Team, who is 5 minutes and 24 seconds behind the season leader.
