Charging An EV To Full Capacity Takes Just 15 Minutes: Hero Electric Collaborates With Log9 Materials
Hero Electric collaborates with Bengaluru-based start-up company, Log9 Materials for battery packs.
Under this partnership, Log9 Materials will supply InstaCharging battery packs for the entire range of Hero Electric Scooters. According to the press release, this will enable the Hero electric scooters to fully charge within 15 minutes.
According to the press release, Log9 has been developing battery packs that provide 9 times faster charging, 9 times better performance, 9 times lower battery degradation and 9 times battery life.
Speaking on the collaboration, Mr Sohinder Gill, CEO, Hero Electric, said, "Unlike Petrol, the charge on a E2W is limited, leading to shorter driving range. In the year 2019, we launched bikes with an option of doubling the range. All our bikes also have easily removable batteries and many of our customers are now charging their portable batteries while at workplace or in their apartments."
The press release statement also said that both companies will deploy these batteries in the market via outright sales and battery-as-a-service (BASS) business models.
He also added that, "Some of the B2B businesses however wanted to run the bikes continuously for longer hours with a minimal interruption in their delivery operations. It is for such customers that we now offer bikes with the Log9 batteries that can be fast charged while the driver is having his cup of tea. This game-changing association will maximise the returns on the logistics operations of these B2B businesses."
Moreover, the battery-as-a-service business model will allow commercial operators to maximize their delivery productivity and profit by taking advantage of the InstaCharge battery packs at nominal monthly charges.
Dr Akshay Singhal, Founder & CEO, Log9 Materials said, "We are pleased to partner with Hero for the integration of Log9's battery and InstaCharge technology. Hero Electric is the leading EV manufacturer in the country, spearheading the electric mobility revolution for the last 14 years, and we at Log9 are excited at the opportunity to launch India's fastest charging 2W in association with Hero Electric."
In fact, Log9 has already started testing its RapidX batteries through business entities such as Amazon, Shadowfax, Delhivery, Flipkart, BykeMania, etc.
Log9's RapidX batteries are also capable to operate under extreme conditions with an operational temperature ranging from -30° to 60° C. Moreover, these battery packs also come with an operational life of 10 years, adding flexibility and reliability to users.
Speaking about Log9 Materials, the start-up company and the only company in India having competencies across materials, electrode, cell and pack level fabrication of energy storage technologies.
Thoughts About The Partnership Between Hero Electric And Log9 Materials
The two-wheeler EV segment has seen a sudden spike in growth rate, thanks to its demand in the commercial sector and new entrants in the market. However, the biggest disadvantage of EVs has always been the charging time, making it difficult for many potential buyers to opt for one.
Now with the Log9's RapidX battery pack, it seems the biggest disadvantage of EVs have been sorted, and it may revolutionise the industry.
