Bookings for the Bajaj Chetak have been reopened. Bajaj has re-opened bookings for its electric scooter, the Chetak in Pune and Bengaluru. This comes just after bookings for the Bajaj Chetak were closed recently due to high demand for the scooter in Tier 1 cities of India.

According to Bajaj, its first-ever all-electric scooter received an overwhelming response from the Indian crowd and exceeded the brand's initial expectations. The Bajaj Chetak electric scooter looks completely different to the current crop of electric scooters with its neo-retro styling.

Adding to the looks of Chetak EV is a set of smart-looking 12-inch wheels and neatly set-up trailing-link front suspension. It also gets a stylish single-sided rear swingarm. Powering the Bajaj Chetak EV is a 3.0kWh lithium-ion battery pack and the power is sent to a 4.08kW electric motor with 16Nm of torque.

The scooter also sports LED lighting setup all around to maximize efficiency. Speaking of efficiency, Bajaj claims a total range of 95 kilometres on a single charge while using ECO mode. In Sports mode, it drops by 10 kilometres, giving the user a total range of 85 kilometres.

Bajaj offers the Chetak EV in two variants, Urbane and Premium. The former costs about Rs 1,999 less than the latter at Rs 1,42,988. The Premium variant is priced at Rs 1,44,987. The high cost of the Bajaj Chetak EV scooter can be attributed to the scooter not being considered under the FAME II subsidy. This makes it a fair bit more expensive than its primary competitors like Ather 450X and TVS iQube.
